Title: Commendation
Post by: The Old Guide on March 07, 2014, 12:09:00 PM
Last year, Maine's governor issued a proclamation declaring April to be "Maine Patriot History and Heritage Month". It's an election year and he will not repeat the proclamation, but his PR guy says the governor is going to issue a Letter of Commendation to RWVA commending us for our work in educating Maine citizens regarding history and marksmanship. The letter should be sent next week.

I'll take it. Anybody else getting recognition by their governors?

Yep, we can all understand, as we stand on the sinking deck of the SS United States in 2014, that no one running for office in 2014 would want to be seen proclaiming April as "Patriot History and Heritage Month" - no clearer indication of how low in the water the boat is. :'(

Still, it's good he's willing to do what he's willing to do.

I'd like to see some ideas (not necessarily posted here), some game plan, as to how, within 4 years, we can cure the reluctance of Maine politicians to endorse our founders in an election year.

Some way is needed to make a big splash in the eyes of residents of Maine to waken them to the fact that Appleseed exists, and what it is about, and the opportunity it offers to reawaken the state of Maine...

We change the state, by changing the people - at least, 1 to 3 per cent of them.

No criticism of any kind intended here. Simply a suggestion that we start with Maine, and the proceed down the eastern seaboard, then west to the Pacific, cleaning up and mopping up as we go. :) O0

The ONLY recognition I would like to see from any Governor is to show up at an Appleseed as a shooter.

Our candidate for Congress came to our April 19 shoot at Columbia, Maine. He was prone on the line in the sleet and freezing rain. He loved the history. At the party convention he announced that he was for Constitutional carry. The place erupted with the loudest and longest standing ovation of the convention. Today he was working the crowd at the Bangor Gun Show. He has a slight lead in this race and is building on it.

Our Appleseeder was ELECTED. Bruce Poliquin is the next Representative of Maine's Second District. His words to me were, "If there is anything I can do -"

As a matter of fact, there is.

Nice work!
Congrats to him for getting elected and congrats and thanks to you for getting/keeping him involved.

Maine seems to be in great hands.
As it was in 1775 the Northeast has become a real battleground.

Keep bailing everyone. There's still plenty of water in our ship. Lets hope the New Year brings bigger buckets
and more Patriots to get this bailing done.

Never surrender!
