This was G_Fresh's first weekend out as an IIT. Not only did he do a fabulous job helping out on the line, but he brought his wife LeeWhay and friends Aaron, David & Mike along for a great weekend full of marksmanship instruction and stories about the birth of our nation!
It was great to see Paul back on our lines, complete with an official Marlin Appleseed LTR (and even an Appleseed specific data-book that seemed to be getting it's fill...)
New to our lines was CalGunner Jermaine. Squared away from the start, this guy stuck at it and showed tremendous improvement throughout.
Everyone, for that matter... everyone was great. Shots on the dreaded red-coat targets improved greatly as the weekend progressed!
Remember, guys... Dry practice is the key. Telling stories is the lock... A Nation of Rifleman is the reward.
Thank you to Ventura-Steve, Gratefuldog & G_Fresh for allowing me to work with them this weekend!

Thank you Johnny, Steve, Pete and Ryan for a great weekend! As always, I really appreciate the one on one instruction. I still can't believe that I was able to hit the sighter target on the AQT at 25 yards and steel at 100 yards with the M 1 Garand. Thank you for that opportunity, your encouragement and patience.
My highest AQT score this past weekend was 180, the highest yet without a scope on my 10/22. I hope to improve on that in the future. Until I see you guys again, I will work on dry firing and finding my NPOA. Thanks again.

My first Appleseed and the only bad thing was that I waited this long. ;)
I had a hunch I would dig this program and I do. What can't be totally understood through reading or hearing about the program is the level of passion these instructors bring to the line. It was obvious from the start that gonejohnny, venturasteve, gratefuldog and g fresh were giving it there all. I was humbled to be beneficiary of that enthusiasm.
With zero formal training before Saturday, I received a thorough washing from the fire hose. Drank what my mind could swallow, stored the rest in a bucket to use as homework. Sunday was hard for me, found my body fatiguing and my mind becoming frustrated but the instructors encouraged me throughout and I was grateful for that and the fact there is no couch/TV/internet connection on the line, lest I wander off and find a comfortable spot to sit. :))
Likewise the students were a pleasure to be surrounded by and their determination, enthusiasm and friendliness were worth mimicking.
Hearing the stories of Lexington Green, North Bridge and Meriam's corner make the stories come to life. These stories could have happened yesterday, our forefathers were, well, our forefathers and we have much in common and even more to learn from them.
Throughout the day today I found myself thinking of the keys to a solid position and the six steps to firing the shot. You know what? I can tell you each step, pretty much off the top of my head! I also took time at lunch to look up some further reading materials about the men and women who were bold, enterprising and independent of the mind.
Truly, thank you for the opportunity.

Welcome aboard ! RSG
Thank you for expressing so well how each of us view the Appleseed program !
Thanks to EVERYONE for joining us this weekend. I hope everyone enjoyed getting out as much as I did. It was awesome sharing time with each of you and getting to know you. The shooting was only half the fun.
Jermaine, I hope I can be of some help next time you come out. If you need ANYTHING in preparation please don't hesitate to contact me. I'd like to join you on one of your Friday shoots.
Keep shooting and lets all get out there and make a difference!
Now for some more pics!
readysetgo is tough act to follow with his articulate post!
First, thanks for the kind words from everyone.
Second, I was really impressed with the students. They persevered through equipment snafus, sight pictures changing, M1 Garands recoiling, and targets moving from one location to another. It can sometimes seem like everything is conspiring against us... But, getting out there and "getting' 'er done" is what made us makes us who we are!
Finally, thanks for all the camaraderie and fun last weekend.
