Title: Slidell, LA Feb 15 & 16
Post by: Biloxi Steve on February 17, 2014, 10:26:20 AM
A great weekend was had by all in Slidell, LA this weekend. On Saturday we had 6 individuals show up to hear the about the Heritage of this great nation and the sacrifices made by our founders. The 2 youngsters we had let us know that the history we teach is different from what they currently get in the local school system. At Appleseed we say that a rifleman preservers and that was seen by our 2 youngsters, they both came with tube-fed rifles and although we offered them the use of magazine fed rifles, they both wanted to use their own rifles in order to become proficient on what they come with. One of the youth came very close to rifleman with his tube-fed, his high score was 200. A few of the other shooters came very close to rifleman and have assured us they will return.  As always, no event can happen without the hard work of the Appleseed crew and my hat is off to the great folks I had the privilege of working with this weekend, Lawdog, geeck, isleno1963, waynebridgeman, and Tdog. You guys make it happen. I also want to thank the crew of Camp Villereie for opening their gates to Appleseed, the facility is great and the hospitality is second to none.  Pictures will be added a little later.

Thanks Steve, it was a fun weekend. Those 2 young men were squared away and worked hard.  Stonewall (nickname) was the other guy getting close to a Rifleman score. He'll be back and the 3rd time will probably be the charm for him.  We could have a real productive shoot at Slidell next month.
