Welcome to the first AQT Day in Alaska
A very special Project Appleseed event for shooters who have attended a 'regular' Appleseed.
Nine enthusiatic American marksmen and women joined instructors Shoot Boss fisherdawg, Taka222, eagleriver, Pete!, RedBoston and Gulo gulo at beautiful Birchwood Recreation & Shooting Park in Chugiak, Alaska for a half day of review and Appleseed Qualification Tests (AQT's). This provided a chance to strive for the coveted Winterseed Rifleman Patch as the ground was covered in ice and snow and temperatures never rose above the low 20's.
The Flag Set was posted on newly upgraded E Range. The Firing Line is now not only covered, but also has a back and side walls with overhead infrared heat. The line was still well below freezing, especially in prone, but relief was near by and very welcome during breaks.
The crew conducted the Admin drill, Safety briefing and a review of the Steady Hold Factors of prone & seated positions, sling use, and the Six Steps of Firing the Shot. The line was placed in Dry Fire awaiting the arrival of the SB. He came along at 1:06 pm and the Course of Fire commenced with a sighter square, 5 rounds.
Evaluation of the targets revealed that some sight adjustments were in order so IMC was reviewed and 2 more squares shot and evaluated. Where upon most of the line was within 1 or 2 MOA of target center. We posted an AQT as a review device and started at Stage 4. We taught NPOA and NPOA transition prior to that course.
We then proceeded to shoot to shoot Stages 3 & 2 twice each to review transitions and by the second time around the performance of the line was coming together.
We reviewed Standing and shot Stage 1. We the went into th AQT grind (4 additional AQT's) which revealed 2 new Riflemen -- Randy (CenterFire!) & Trevor as well as Ryan with a double Requal with Center Fire also.
We finished with a RedCoat as the Alaska Winter Sun headed for the horizon and gave the Benediction -- the Impact of Marksmanship at the North Bridge!
Several other shooters on the line just need a bit more (dry fire!) work to get there. Looking forward to seeing you again soon.

A heated, covered line? You guys are getting spoiled up there! ;D
Great job, all!
I wouldn't say spoiled, as a day spent there normally requires a minimum of 3-4 layers, hand warmers, a personal heater, and ice cleats (for target checking purposes).
Randy did good work at our AQT Day. Congratulations!
Trevor scores RifleMan! Attaboy!! ;D  O0 ..:.. ^:)^
