MY Smith-Corona 1903A3 is shooting way high at 25, to get POI-POA I have to put the slide on 400 which aint right, sort of bothersome becuase I was hopeing to use it at range and the preset come-ups are void. Now the Front sight is curved to the left which I guess happened before I got it. Is there any solution to bringing the rifle to where it will shoot like it is supposed to?
First make sure that your blade is original and unmodified. If you need a new blade, GPC has one for under $3.00

If your blade is the corret height, the only solution is a higher front sight. You can solder or braze an extension on the one you have, or whittle a new one out of thin barstock. Take a fine mill file with you to the range. Then it's pretty much a matter of file and shoot. If you have a Caldwell rest or something similar, you can probably boresight to get close before you burn any powder. Hope this helps.
Here is the formula:
Sight Radius (in inches) Divided by distance to the target (also in inches) Multiplied by the error (yep, in inches) = correction in inches.
so, set the rear sight at 200, shoot for group. This will be pretty much your 25/275 yard Battle sight zero setting.
Measure group. plug in the numbers to the formula.
Add (or subtract) metal based on calculations.........
Oh, and Wild Man seems to have forgotten more about the Springfield than I'll ever know. PM him as well.....
There were three different front sights made for the O3 A3. so you may have the shorter one which is the most common. OR you can make your own front sight and file it down until it is zeroed
Odd, I've got that same leaning front sight going on w/ a mostly Rem. 03/A3 I cobbled together. Only had it to the range once, of course it shoots quite high. Have some tweaking to do.
Thanks kool aid for the formulae.
Ray-Vin makes tall replacement 03a3 front sights

The way I always remember it is front sight chases bullet. If you hittin' high grow your front sight low take some off.
The other way to do is pull the bullet and shake some powder out, just kidding.
Thanks for the kind words Kool Aid but it ain't true.
