This was the last Appleseed event scheduled for Beaver Valley Rifle and Pistol Club for 2013. It was supposed to be a Winterseed. Past Winterseeds at this range have featured ice, snow and low (sometimes very low) temperatures. This event featured rain, temps in the high fifties, rain, gusty winds, and ... did I mention RAIN?
Still, three returning Appleseeders (one an IIT that goes by DeckApe) came out to share marksmanship instruction and American heritage in spite of the lousy forecast. It was a stellar display of the principle that "a Rifleman persists".
The first order of business Sunday morning was to drain the lake that had developed between the parking area and the firing line. The rain had also persisted, all night long. Fortunately, the weather gave us a break from rain on Sunday. Jeremy and Ethan showed steady improvement throughout the day, ending with a high score of 207 for Jeremy and 190 for Ethan. Nice shooting, guys! Hope to see you again soon as you persist in your pursuit of marksmanship excellence! And bring your friends!
We had a great time this weekend, and we were happy to be there. Can't wait to attend more Appleseeds in 2014!
I'd like to sincerely thank all you guys for helping us with our skills and for giving us confidence and motivation to improve these past few months. I think we have come a long way, but we have a ways to go yet on our road to becoming Riflemen. Looking forward to it!
Thanks again, and Merry Christmas to all!
