Post by: Sly223 on December 17, 2013, 02:14:05 AM
Hummmdinger Bell Ringer it was!
What a great time had by all! Thank you first and foremost to Dwight C and his lovely bride,
Fine pair of Americans and I much appreciated your help!
To our shooters,
Sam I am(10yrs old) O0, thank you for first bringing your beautiful Mother Sandy to our lines,You wore her out on Sat. then brought your Long lean father Oliver on Sun. and ran him thru his paces, The frustration showed a few times when every thing was not going right but you persisted and worked your bolt like a champ! BTW you and I were the only bolty users on the line always an added level of difficulty.Fantastic  Job Sir
Next time we will place them at the other end so you don't have to worry and constantly correct them! ^-^
I do wish we had more time to spend engaging one on one,However we were stretched pretty thin as it were we were very busy getting the blocks of instruction and cof and maintaining safety job#1 we squeezed in the History that was taken well by all!(even though SB got windy)
We were able to maintain very respectable pace all weekend even though there was a preponderance of new shooters on the line. All attentive and absorbed the info like a sponge. A great bunch of students that turned into a fine group of American brothers and sisters in liberty!
Adil thanks for coming out that is one fine AK, Rifleman are not stamped out in one day! Persist and come back.
Mike, representing the Navy well,  knockin' on the door already, I must have called you Gary 20 times and thought you did not want to hear what I had to say only late Sun. did I realize my mistake then every time I said Mike you both looked and I was confused! :slap:
Bill, one dangerous old man that showed us what some are capable of Rang the Gong at a 100m standing! ;D
Richard,is a great son who cares deeply for his father and also shot very well and is knockin'on the door!
Ken, Our Sat. Rifleman shot very well, and had an amazing fourth stage with his SKS that was one ragged hole on two targets!Huzzah!
Iris, was very pretty and impressive in a dangerous way!13years old and already wise beyond! She also brought her old man Jon V and let his ol' tired self watch and listen out of his good eye and ear.
Steve was our rifleman on Sun. and had a perfect stage four another feat rarly seen now days! Great focus Sir! ;)
Tyler, also showed sun and quickly lept to the front of the herd, great effort Sir, do come back I know you will you were knockin'
Carol S and Charles w worked the devil outta those lever actions and kept pace with there son,
Thomas, a war vet multiple tours, thank you for you service Sir, all weekend this man showed the type of grit that would make the founders very proud.
Mike and Rob the battleing brother that came out on two separate paths in two separate directions on sat. but tied with a pair of 171's on Sun. great job boy's come on back always welcome we had a ton o' fun!
Kevin & Trevor, brought Troy this time we first met the father and son team at the WAC and someone did something right there almost half the line was at that one! Troy broke out the SKS and proved to be a beast right from the start even untoo the end when he snapped my target line post off at the ground.(Animal)
The weather held out until 4:45 on Sun so we got the red coats and went home after a great little ceremony and clean up!
I had a dead battery for those of you keeping track that every time I have an event I am given another opportunity (no not to improve my character), to hate myself for not being a mechanic! :shootself:
Great safe times had by all, minds and souls were filled with good stuff and hearts are burning! What more are we lookin' for? ..:.. :--- :~
:pics:
O.k. now for anyone who wants to share please do! :pop:

We may have only had 2 instructors, but we were rewarded with 2 Riflemen and maybe even a future orange hat or two. Huzzah! And for those on the fence, I look forward to seeing you guys tear that thing down next time. Everyone showed great improvement. What a great bunch of folks.

Thank you Rick and Dwight!  All 16 of us worked you both very hard, yet all were kept safe and had a GREAT time.   We all received a great history lesson, blessed fellowship, and some fine marksmanship instruction.  My boys and I would have greatly appreciated more individual time/observation, but I guess we will just have to return again, and again, and again...sweet.  What an awesome way to spend a weekend as a family!   God bless you both and plan to see you next month.  We will bring the neighbors next time.  Oh yes, and the jumper cables...just in case.  Merry Christmas!

Hey Sly! Huzzah! Is right!! I can't tell you how the Appleseed program has cleaned up my shooting. That being said, I more enjoyed being with a group of my neighbors who are like minded Americans who are interested in gathering and not only learning about our history and heritage but also to practice it as well. What a great Country we live in. I wanted to say thank you to you, Dwight, and your families for volunteering your time and equipment for the many events you do. Nice job this weekend gentlemen and you're that God smiled on the Appleseed this weekend as the  at the range was great while a front pushed through and only a short distance away the weather was nasty to say the least.

Safety was foremost, I had a great time and made some new friends. I call that a huge success. Send along the info for the orange hat!

Thanks again,

Ken

Hi Sly, (and Dwight, and everyone)

Had typed up a detailed run down of my thoughts but managed to hose that up during the preview process.

So, couple of quick hits.

Had an absolutely fantastic time last weekend.  And I'll definitely be back for another event as my schedule allows.

Sure, I'd like to eventually hit the Rifleman qualification, but in a bigger sense, that's not all that important to me.

What is more important is that I got to hang with a group of like minded individuals for the weekend, got a reminder of what our forefathers did, and learned a whole bunch of lessons that can be taken back and re-spun for use in my community.

What a great weekend! Camping on site with Ken, Mike, and Bill (my dad). Big thanks to Ken not only did he earn the Rifleman's badge  ^:)^ He proved his skills on the grill with Steak and Taters Friday night and followed it up with spaghetti and venison meat sauce on Saturday night. Wish Y'all could have camped with us. We had some great fellowship and a few adult beverages. We also got to hang out with Iris's dad John V. on Sat. evening. What a nice guy. Hope we do stay in touch and get to burn some rounds at the local ranges here in the Tampa Bay area. Maybe we can go nock down some doors and clear some houses of bad guys on the virtual range in Plant City. It is a blast.  ;) I would like to say A BIG THANK YOU! to Rick and Dwight for a great job over the weekend. I know you were spread really thin with all of us that showed up. You guys handled it like Pros. At no time during the weekend did I feel unsafe on the range. It did require vigilance on your part, with the amount of shooters that we had. I do think that a couple more volunteer range staff would have allowed us all to acquire more one on one time with the staff. I guess that just proves that more volunteers are needed to help support the Appleseed Project.  If I ever earn that elusive Rifleman's patch, I would like to volunteer some of my time to help support the cause. I wish the weather would have allowed a couple more AQT's on Sunday. I was knocking on the door with my score of  194 and was improving with each AQT. Oh Well guess I will see you again in January  :). when I will have yet another chance to prove my dislike for Redcoats and try and earn my spot in the 500 marching to Boston
