Title: Tusco Caliber Limit?
Post by: LindaFromAppleCreek on December 05, 2013, 10:45:17 AM
I was asked by someone interested in coming to a shoot whether Tusco has a caliber limit. He wants to bring a .50, not muzzle loader.

I know you guys who own steel are careful with calibers, so I figured if we could put out a paper KD AQT target, that would save the steel. We wouldn't get the instant gratification of the ding, but paper is more helpful overall.

Does the range itself have a limit?

I'm not sure. Will check into it more next week.

Anyone know?

If we were there (range allowing) I would love to have a piece of 50 cal swiss cheese wall art red coat. However some of the other instructors may object to this... I don't think tusco has a limit but I'm not sure if that's true...

Linda, I think I read somewhere on the forum that Appleseed has a limit of 8MM at our shoots. Anybody else aware of this?

I found where I read about the 8MM limit at AS.

It is in a doc on the definition of an LTR.  Go to the Appleseed Welcome group, Appleseed Lobby thread and then go into the Additional Info thread.  In post on Definition of an LTR, it says max caliber is .32 (8MM).

For what it's worth.

Appleseed limits aside, If I remember correctly Tusco does have one or is it two of the ranges that allow the .50s to be used.

Edit to add: Yep. the 600 Yard Practice Range and the 300 Yard Utility Range both allow .50 BMG to be used.

I doubt he wants to shoot AQT's at $3.00+ a squeeeeeeeeze.  (Sportsmans Supply Gunbot auction have to buy a case for that price)

If the range allows a .50 on the full distance range would be fun.

He wants to shoot the regular course of fire with a .22, then have fun with the .50bmg on the 600 yard range. I know some won't allow steel to be hit with that large of a caliber. I bet it would make great holes in a paper KD target.

No $120 AQTs planned.

Roger that.  For AS policy, liability, and insurance reasons, max cal is 8MM/.32
