I received word today from Gary's wife that his heart surgery on 12-2-13 went well. Here's what she wrote:
"Just wanted to let you know Gary's surgery went well, he is ahead of schedule with his recovery. He is in a lot of pain but that was expected. He has already been up in his chair and they have advanced his diet already, all good things! Thought you could pass the word to the Appleseed family. Thanks" - Mrs. Mac66.
Upright and taking nourishment? What else would you expect from MAC?
Let us all send Gary some get well wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.
Btw, the surgery was NOT for a heart attack or anything like that. He just needed a little tune up. LOL. I will let him elaborate if he wants to.
GET WELL MAC!!

The couple of times I was in the hospital this year I did more than one "HospitalSeed". I even wore my RWVA t-shirt. Maybe I need a pair of those Appleseed sweatpants to go with it, in case I need to go in again.
Plenty of time to recover Mac ! 4 months to April 19 th. ;)
Best wishes and may you have a speedy recovery .

Hi all. My wife just showed me your messages. Thanks for all well wishes. Had an aortic valve replaced Monday, was up walking around on Tuesday. Out of ICU on Wednesday. Doing good, felling well, off pain meds . supposed to be home by now. But here I sit waiting for the heart rythum to stabilize. Common thing with open heart surgery. Now they tell me Monday before i go home. Other than the Afib thing I doing well and feel good .
I'll check in again when I get home.

I'm HOME! I held off writing since I learned the last time I was in the hospital that writing messages while under heavy pain meds isn't very productive. I've now been off the pain meds for a couple days and am now relatively coherent, though it still took me half an hour to write this. ::)
The good news is that I now have a new aortic heart valve clicking away inside of me and I feel pretty good. The other good news is that this was not the result of heart disease but of a congenital heart valve problem. I wasn't sick and should have no long term effects. I now realize that I had some significant symptoms that I didn't recognize as far back as last summer. If you have had any physical heartaches, twinges, pains, palpitations, heart flutter, irregular heart beat or mini chest cramps you might want to ask your doctor to schedule a echo cardiogram
I've recovered from the surgery, now just need to heal up. I should back on the Appleseed trail by the end of January.
And no, I still haven't heard anything about my guns from Ruger. :)

Ya know if you put that at the top it would have saved me a lot of reading. ^:)^
Glad to hear you are at home. I feel like a heal for not coming to the hospital to see ya. Next time I promise. See you at the IBC.
Great news Mac.
Just heard. Glad to know you are on your way to feeling good again. Take care Mac66
Went to the cardiologist today and am doing well. Everything works and I'm feeling good.
