Title: Livingston, NY - October 19 & 20, 2013
Post by: Another D.O.M. on October 22, 2013, 12:14:06 AM
The Project Appleseed premier event at Kalicoontie Rod & Gun Club (http://kalicoontie.com/) in Livingston NY was well attended and a great success.

Our 12 students brought a wide range of skill levels with them, and each showed significant improvement as the weekend progressed.  The mild weather and lack of rain were welcome, especially considering the time of year.

Congratulations to our four riflemen score shooters - Kris (210 after more than a year on the sidelines), Brian P (217), Brian H (218) and Jeff (223?).  And a special thank you and congratulations to our Young Patriot from Saturday, Damien.  At 12 years of age, Damien showed remarkable improvement by the end of the day on Saturday, both in his groups and in his rifle handling skills.

I'd like to thank the host range, and President Joe D, who shot and learned on Saturday as well as preparing lunch, then he came back on Sunday with breakfast & lunch in between getting in firewood for the winter.  Sunday's meal included home-grown ham from one of the hogs Joe raised on his homestead.  We're already working on return dates to Kalicoontie next year, possibly including a Ladyseed.

And thanks again to my fellow instructors, Grumpy1 and Smurf.  G1, a member of the host range, really got the ball rolling for this event and our relationship with the club.  The skill and expertise of these two makes the job of Shoot Boss so much more enjoyable!

Thanks A.D.O.M., Grump1 and Smurf for a nice weekend.  Klondike totally enjoyed the attention, the little extras, and the bright green name tag that was provided to him.  Thanks also to Joe for feeding us both days.  I've been there, done that and know how it is to get everything "just right" for your guests.  I couldn't imagine feeding a group AND trying to participate in an event.  This was a great group of participants (as usual).  Bob, next time bring more magazines!  Pam, you were "thisssss close".  Next time for sure!

The First Appleseed at The Kalicoontie Rod and Gun Club was a huge success!  :)

Families and friends alike, joined us for a weekend of Heritage and Marksmanship. We had almost an even split between new and repeat students.

Thank You to the clubs President Joe D, who was instrumental in getting an event held at this club. Joe also provided lunch both days, including a Ham Dinner ^-^,for lunch on Sunday. In addition to all this hard work, he was able to join us on the line Saturday and do some Great shooting.

Congratulations to our New and Repeat Riflemen, Kris (210), Brian P.(217), Brian H (218), Jeff (223) O0

Congratulations to Damen, Our newest Young Patriot, Damen listened intently to the History, most of which he never heard before, and out on the line watched his skills improve throughout Saturday. O0

Marksmanship skills improved throughout the weekend, everyone showed improvment O0
Practice,Practice, Practice! :--- :~ :--- :~

I can say WINTERSEED!!!   I had such a great time.  The Appleseed staff were so helpful and friendly!  The history was nothing like I learned in school.  The only downside was I wasn't able to attend on Sunday.  I will anxiously awaiting the Appleseeds in Breman (hope I spelled that correctly), and hoping for a winterseed at Kalicoontie.  It was an event that I feel that anyone with an appreciation for firearms should attend.  Safety was always first on the list and the learning never ended.  Thank you all it was a wonderful day!!
