Title: Elverson, PA October 12-13, 2013
Post by: GEmanuel on October 14, 2013, 08:13:37 PM
What a wonderful weekend we had a Northern Chester County Sportsmans Club.
The weather was beautiful and typical of October here in Pennslvania.
Thirteen shooters made their way to the line to learn the skills of Rifle Marksmanship and to hear the story of April 19, 1775.
By Sunday afternoon smiles were the order of the day as everyone showed remarkable improvement. Each now has the lessons necessary to practice and return to slay the AQT and achieve their Rifleman patch.
Alex on the very first Red Coat of the weekend cleaned it and was awarded the 1st Pennsylvania Rifles Patch for his achievement.
On the very first AQT attempt Alex then proceeded to crush the required 210 score and shot a 232 thus winning his Rifleman patch. This was his second Appleseed. What a great job! He then proceeded to wake the countryside with thunder from his .50 Beowulf. What a bang stick.  Gotta love it!
On behalf of Alex (SSG Platz) Carl (Mastiff) and myself I want to thank each and every one of you for a perfect safety performance. Not a single bobble or even a hint of one. Great job.
I said at the outset that if it isn't fun, it isn't worth doing. Well, this Appleseed was definitely worth doing. I hope each of you had as much fun as we did with all of you.
We are looking forward to seeing you all again at a future event.
Pictures to follow

Was this Alex and his .50 Beowulf?  Did you keep him on the far right of the line again?

One and the same. He was on the seasoned line with Jay and several other experienced shooters. They were in the care of SSG Platz while Carl and I handled the second line. The new shooters were quite impressed with the size of the cartridges and weren't bothered by the report. In fact they rather enjoyed the experience.
