Title: Grand Junction Colorado 05-06 Oct 2013 AAR
Post by: M1bzrk on October 08, 2013, 12:58:32 AM
Friday afternoon arrived in sunny Grand Junction.  The range was open and Shawna (CoJeepGirl), her dad Larry and I set up the target line amidst light sleet.  Saturday dawned bright and cold with a locked gate at the range.  Shawna was able to contact PronetoKnit and get the range president's number and Chuck graciously came out and opened up for us.  Chris joined us from GJ, although he was planning to shoot, he stepped up and helped us on the line.  I want to start by thanking Shawna and Chris.  Could not have done it without them.
15 shooters showed up from as far away as Colorado Springs and Moab  Utah.  Weather warmed as the day progressed and had an excellent shoot.  We had only 4 women shooting and they were 3 generations of the same family.
One shooter, Davis, made rifleman on Saturday, and then did it again on Sunday; good job, Airman!  On Sunday Brian and John (from Moab) shot rifleman, John with an enviable 238.  Congrats to the three of them.  I hope you all will follow up and take orange hats.
We had a variety of .22s (rimfires only at our portion of the range): mostly 10/22s in various configurations, but also Marlins and Remington and one Savage bolt gun -with faulty mag, so shooter had to singleshot it.  Talk about perseverance!
The Colorado SC, Oneshotonehole and his wife PronetoKnit showed up in the afternoon.  Their assistance and attitude are always welcome and extremely valuable.  Talk about busy folks...  Thank you Kim and Jim for everything and especially for getting me out of the Wyoming snow.
Thanks also to all the shooters who came out, you were a great bunch!
Finally thanks to Orchard Mesa Gun Club and Chuck Lopas for making the shoot possible.  Nice range and nice folks.  Great shoot, folks.
