Title: SACRAMENTO, CA SEPT 21-22, 2013
Post by: NorCal22Gal on September 24, 2013, 08:16:58 PM
"It never rains in California ......" so goes the song...  Apparently the writer of that song was not in Sacramento on Saturday.....it started raining around lunch time and rained until about 6pm.............  The forecast had been for a chance of a few showers in the afternoon....

Overcast sky and a light breeze greeted 9 Americans Saturday morning.  We started the safety briefing and kicked off our day with the 1st Red Coat.  Our instructor crew started the fire hose and we were off.  This was a group of shooters ready to learn and get the job done.

By lunch groups were shrinking nicely.  We stopped for food and the 3 Strikes.  Midway through the 2nd strike the wind kicked up and the temp dropped and the clouds moved in with a bit of thunder and lightning.....then the showers came....and never left.  We went back at it anyway.  This was a tough group, but the temps and wet took it's toll.  By the end of the day we had three shooters left.  Hans, Rydell and Steve.  We got in 2 aqt's and Steve was very close......

A final Red Coat which Steve cleared and we packed up and called it a day.

Sunday, the gorgeous California fall weather was back.  Sunny, light breeze mid 70's......

A review of the safety rules, Red Coat and we were off again to review and refine what was taught the day before.   An AQT and then we took a break for lunch.  Steve was knocking on the door with a 204. Ooooohhhhh sooooo close.  After lunch it was back to the AQT's and a bit more refinement one on one.  Finally, Steve put all the pieces together and turned in a 216!!!  Then on the next to last AQT Eric turned in a nicely done 210 and was properly baptized in the waters of the North Bridge ....

Steve cleared the final Red Coat of the weekend.

A few words of farewell and awarding the deserving Rifleman patches to two deserving riflemen, we then cleaned up and closed out another wonderful Appleseed at the Sacramento Valley Shooting Center .

A great job to all the shooters.  Kat, wonderful job this weekend and you stuck it out in the rain for a couple hours.

Thanks to all my instructors for a job well done!

Thanks again, everyone, for hanging in there through Saturday. That was a taste of winter, on the first day of fall!

Congratulations to our new Riflemen Steve and Eric. We're very proud of you, and hope you come back and see us again sometime soon. Tell your friends and family about your experiences, and send 'em our way next month! Our countrymen need marksmanship training and the lessons of April 19th, 1775--both of which make for stronger individuals, more suited for the self-governance our Founders intended.

To Kat, Rydell and Hans--you each already demonstrate the Rifleman qualities of focus, determination and persistence, and all of you took what we taught you, and put it into practice. And you had GREAT attitudes while doing it!!  O0

Keep those Steady Hold Factors and 6 Steps of Firing the Shot in mind whenever you go to the range. When you come back to Appleseed again (notice, I didn't say "if"!), you'll find your shots groups getting better and even more on-target. I expect we'll see more Riflemen in the future, from our group this last weekend. You all "rock"!  ^:)^
