I am writing an NRA grant to obtain Ruger 10/22s for use at my club's youth and women's activities, as well as loaners for AS. Is the 12.75-inch LOP sufficiently short for youths in the 8-13 age range, or should I look to modify them or buy other stocks to accommodate these students?
I have a Compact 10/22 as a loaner, and while it's a good fit for smaller women and 12+ kids, it's still too large for younger kids. You're into Cricket / Rascal territory there.

The 10/22 compact actually has a 12" length of pull. I have a 9 y/o girl that borrowed mine regularly until her dad got her one of her own. She can shoulder the rifle, but it is still heavy for her to hold. She shoots it prone from a rest. Nonetheless, it should work.
If you are willing to look at bolts the Mossberg 802 Half-pint plinkster is a great little rifle. It comes with a single feed insert in the magazine well and can use the 10 round magazines for the 802 full size bolt. The little Chinese scope that came on mine is ugly as sin but holds a zero. Was $132 out the door a couple of years ago. I ordered the mags straight from Mossberg.
