Title: Casper WY AAR New Venue!!
Post by: colonial shooter on September 01, 2013, 11:23:50 PM
Wow what a great event! A first for Wyoming, a business totally sponsored this event. Renting the range, setting up tents for cover and promoting like no other.

Saturday started in typical Wyoming fashion with a gentle breeze... 25+mph winds, from the opposite direction as normal. Tents flapping, target line holding steady and the sun shining. Every registration showed up and even a walk-on. For a total of 22 shooters, of which only 3 had been to a previous event. The day started as usual with those pesky Redcoats facing the untrained. However, as the day progressed skills improved rapidly. Several health issues removed a couple of shooters for the weekend, but the rest drove on. improvement continued.

Sunday, started with almost no wind and sunshine, all but 3 shooters returned and another joined the ranks. Within a few rounds the AQT was the topic of conversation, and showed its face multiple times, to be knocked out over and over. At the end of the day there was great improvement showed by all, one new rifleman and 2 repeat ones.

All in all this was a fabulous event for Wyoming, as we added 3 new IIT's to the ranks. Two have yet to join the forum but will soon. Congrats to Brian, Edis, and Will. Please add your thoughts here and photos if you have them

I was always taught to "never volunteer for anything."  Being prior military and all.  This is the first program that I've felt whole heartedly about volunteering my time.  Without knowledge we are destine to follow, but given the proper tools and the knowledge to use those tools we make and keep our own path.  I had a great time and the personal satisfaction comes from seeing someone improve their overall marksmanship in only 2 days.  Keep up the practice.  Congrats to my brothers who are also walking the instructor path.

O0 What a great weekend.  So many good Americans learning how to shoot and learning about the history of this great nation.  I would like to thank Brian of Powder River Armory  ..:.. first and foremost for renting the range and especially the tents.  It was HOT, both days, it made the shoot so much nicer for instructors and students.  Brian is a returning rifleman with AS and took on an orange hat to boot.  Thanks for the tents and thanks for stepping up to IIT.

More pictures to follow.

A great shoot at a new location: Stuckenhoff Shooting Complex.   Thanks are due the helpful folks there.  Special thanks to Brian of Powder River Armory for initiating this shoot and for furnishing two large tents for shade off the firing line.  Thanks also to Pine Ridge Puma for once again coming over from Chadron  Nebraska and lending a hand.  Kudos to Brian and Edis on accepting orange hats and Mamabear for taking a blue.  Congrats also to Casper, turbodriven04, Whooligan, Newman and Puma.  It was great as usual to work with all these and having Colonial there was icing on the cake.  Too bad Rocket could not make it, but our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family as he recovers.  This was our largest turnout this year.  What a great way to finish.
A great bunch of shooters: from Mayda's and Kim's first time at an Appleseed Event to Frank shooting a 208.  Almost there, Frank!!  Almost 50% of shooters were female.  Thank you Ladies and keep up the good work.   Perhaps it's time for Wyoming to host a Ladyseed!  Everyone showed great improvement and very positive attitudes.  Thank you all for coming; you are what the program is all about.

I had a great time at this shoot. It was really nice to see such a turnout for labor day weekend. I hope everyone enjoyed themselves and had fun, I am so glad we got the tents up or it might have been a miserable hot day. I think the stuckenhoff range is a perfect location for this event and I look forward to securing it next year for our spring appleseed.

Pictures from the Casper, WY shoot 8-31-13.

We did a last shot closest to the V in the 5 ring.  One shot.  Women and men.  Whom ever was closest to the V got to take home a flag stand and which ever flag they wanted.  Casper will buy new ones for the two that were won.  The two winners where estatic.  Small price to pay for the smiles that were worn.
