Digging around in my basement I found some old web/nylon strap belts with the friction/clamp buckles. I wondered it I could make them into web slings. I am an instructor and have a number of loaner rifles and hunting and other rifles as well. Once I discovered what a great sling the GI web sling was I wanted them on all my rifles. I have a lot of rifles and get tired of swapping them web slings back and forth.
Anyway this is what I came up with....

Before someone says, "just buy them from Appleseed" I will say it. Buy your web silings from Appleseed's store. However if you need backups, or can't afford lots and lots of slings or need one right away, here is a way to do it.
I did a complete write up on my web page...

Kinda off topic.......
For those with one inch loops for slings; Tech Sights offers a pretty nice sling as we Appleseeders like them in a one inch width. All this in basic black!
There; a shameless pitch for yet another business many of us like to support!!
Or you could make 1" slings pretty easy. The one inch swivels are cheaper and the buckles are called cam lock buckles or jam strap buckles. I actually think the 1 inch width is better for kids since they don't typically have defined biceps.
