The Kinderhook Sportsmen's Club (http://www.kinderhooksportsmen.com/) was host to another great Appleseed weekend on June 29 & 30.
Hazy, hot & humid - that's the daily weather forecast for New York's Hudson River Valley throughout the summer, and this weekend was no exception. With temps and humidity levels well above 80 on both days, the forecast called for showers & thunderstorms all weekend. However, Saturday was overcast into the afternoon and there was a steady breeze that kept down the discomfort as well as the mosquitoes and black flies. Sunday was hotter, less breezy, and more humid (if that was even possible). But to our relief, the rain didn't appear until around 3 on Sunday afternoon, and the thunder storms, when they did come along, were well to our south and west.
We had a great instructor crew for this event, five of the finest folks I know and have had the pleasure to work with at Appleseeds. Thank you to LittleMo, Smurf, Grumpy1, Dude and longrange for helping to make this a rewarding weekend for our students.
Many of the students are Appleseed veterans, and all showed improvement and continued to learn new 'stuff' right up to the final AQT on Sunday. Congratulations to our two new Rifleman Patch holders, Bryan and Rich. Bryan achieved a Rifleman Score several times, with a high score of 230; and Rich continued to improve his score throughout Sunday, finishing with a high score of 213. Thank you to our four Junior Patriots - Tristan, Chevett, Jonathan & Theresa - for sharing the weekend (or a portion of it) with us. And thank you to EVERYONE for choosing to spend your weekend learning and improving yourselves.
Once again the host range members provided the students and instructors with lunches of hot dogs, burgers, salads & drinks for a small donation. Thank you for that, as it is surely a welcome change from Deviled Ham and Ritz crackers!
Now I guess it's time for me to post this so others can add their photos and comments.
Thank you, again, to all who participated in this weekend at Kinderhook Sportsmen's Club!

WOW,
Nice work by all, cant wait to see the pictures.
Humid? Mosquitoes? Black Flies?
Thanks for taking this one ADOM and crew.
Well done. O0
Mark, you left out bees. :( :(
Dude+bee+support side elbow[of all places!!!] = more fun than anyone could ask for when trying to demo prone and sitting.
STILL, a great weekend with the best people I know, Appleseeders. We had a great instructor crew and a solid group of students that hung in there through the heat and humidity. It's great to see teenagers hanging in there when things are getting "uncomfortable". Kudos to all our youngsters.
Better keep your eyes on Margaret and that van full of teenage girls; we are going to see an increase very soon in the NY Riflewomen numbers!!!
Two new riflemen and a few more knocking on the door that will be back; a rifle[wo]man persists. And, our redcoats showed consistent improvement across the board.
Definitely a very successful shoot.
Hi All,
