^:)^
What a great weekend in southern Arizona. The weather was starting to get warm but otherwise we had blue skies and a nice breeze.
Even with the mid to high 90s looming in Marana we had 11 shooters on sat and 9 on sun. The motto "shoot like a girl, if you can" on the pinks hats came true with the first red coat of the weekend with a girl being the only Morgan Rifle Company member. It continued to get better with a rifleman gaining a patch and scores continually going up all day. ;D We had 2 young men there and they each received the LB patch. Agreement was made that this was definetly better than paying soccer ....COOL....
Marana saw some instructor changes: Dan who became an orange hat at the end of the last shoot in Marana started his road to red hat and did a great job: Galactic Overlord received his red hat (from his wife) he tells great stories :and stargazer61 became a shoot boss in training....let the paperwork begin.
Sun was a little warmer so we all just drank more water. Sun also saw a new rifleman who got a 210 so was traditionally doused with water from under the North Bridge (slightly warmer than is was back in the day). Shooters were not going to give up even when the temps were reaching the 100 mark.
So, thank you to the MSC for everything, shoot boss, instructor who traveled for hours, the info gatherer from Young, AZ to learn how to have a shoot there, all of the instructors and mostly thanks to the students who none of this would be possible without them
see you at the next one
I want to thank the instructors and shooters for a great weekend at Marana. It was my first Appleseed since moving to Safford, Arizona at the end of March and I found that "you always meet the best people at Appleseed Shoots" definitely applied at Marana. It was a safe, high quality rifle marksmanship and heritage event.
Shawn just missed cleaning that Redcoat by a hair (on one shot on the 200 target) with his M1A at the end of Sunday. Karl took his dousing with the North Bridge water really well in the 95+ degree heat after shooting 210 for his Rifleman patch. Heartwarming to see Galactic Overlord being presented his Redhat on promotion to Instructor on Saturday.
The MSC range is a great location for an Appleseed Shoot. They provided target stands and backers for us and put up a sturdy 20X10 canopy which was very appreciated. This location has Monster berms too. Thank you MSC members for your support.
Thank you to AZMule and Diane for their hospitality for the weekend in Tucson.
