Title: Question on 45ACP cast bullet powder
Post by: CaptG on April 25, 2013, 12:11:43 AM
I've got a bunch of lead 230gr rn 45ACP bullets from a while back. I never had the foresight to stock up on powder for reloading them. Now that my FMJ & HP supply is getting low, I'm thinking about using the lead for my practice around the house.
I've found a couple of sites that say HP38 & W231 are the same. If that's the case, my problem is soved. Does anyone out there know if this is true?

Yup, same stuff, different label. For my 45 230 LRN's I've been stuffing them on top of 4.6gr of Win 231 with a COAL of 1.250". They're just peachy. Group between 1.50 & 1.75 @ 25ft w/ SA 1911-A1. Haven't tried them in the Para yet.

What's really cool is that I found that I can use the same 4.6gr charge for 9mm 115gr RNDS Berry's heads. Sure is nice not to have to recal the powder measure between calibers! O0
