First of all, I want to say HUZZAH! This was an event absolutely PACKED with exciting happenings; a new orange hat, two promotions, three new Riflemen, youngsters punching holes in paper, and parents taking good care of their children!
Isaac Davis watched over the line on April 6, 2013, a beautiful spring day, as eight fine Americans turned out for the first Appleseed clinic ever held at Owensboro Rifle and Pistol Club! On Sunday April 7, ten shooters turned out for another day of history and rifle marksmanship. Many thanks to our local BOTG (Sam) and our BATR (boots across the river; i.e. Mudcat) for making this shoot a reality. And thanks to the board of ORPC for inviting us in.
A special thanks to the parents who are taking good care of their children; Ross & Karen, Lex and Carrie, and Sam too. Alexis was very excited when holes started appearing in her targets! Gabe and Kara; keep persisting! And thanks for making my shoots fun. O0
Congratulations to our new Riflemen! First, Steve shot a 210 and got doused with simulated North Bridge water. The next two Riflemen decided they wanted to stay dry and put forth extra effort to equal or exceed 211. Sam demonstrated persistence and scored a 216. Finally, we had Andrew with a hard-fought score of 218. This was both Steve's and Andrew's first Appleseed event. Well done to all three gentlemen!
Thanks and congratulations to Barbie who passed her PC4, to Pup who passed his PC1 and to Mudcat, whose hat got a little bit more faded. And thanks to Sam, who decided to answer the call and take an orange hat. Did I say HUZZAH!?

I have been informed by people in the know in Frankfort that when the the capitol switchboard gets 1 telephone call for or against a certain issue, they multiply that by 15,000! That's about the same as the number of militia that turned out by April 20, 1775! You can be an army of one simply by voicing your concerns and opinions to your lawmakers!
Pictures will be coming soon. Everyone is invited to post here about your Appleseed experience. Long live Liberty!

Wow, What a great weekend with a group of great Americans. We could not have ordered better weather for this shoot. I had a great time and learned so much this weekend. Thank you to Kevin and Barbie for mentoring me.
Congrats to the all of new riflemen and I encourage the rest of you to practice, practice, practice, and come back and shoot with us again in the near future. Everyone showed great improvement as the weekend passed. Next time please bring a few friends with you. O0
A huge shout out to Sam for persisting and shooting a rifleman's score and taking a hat on the spot. What a true inspiration he will be to future Appleseeders.
Congrats to Barbie on her promotion, she is a true asset to this community and will be a wonderful red hat.

This was a great time. I want to thanks all of the instructors for making the first Appleseed shoot at our club a success. A great time was had by all. Can't wait for the next one. I also can't wait to hit the line with my shiny new orange hat. ..:..
I always enjoy border-raidin' in KY... it's always a beautiful drive out that ways.
We couldn't have asked for better weather, it got hot enough that everyone was shedding layers and downing that good ol' quality H2O! Thanks to all the shooters who came out, new friends and familar faces.
Everyone's scores improved throughout the weekend, and we had 3 new riflemen. Congrats Steve, Andrew, and Sam! You 3 worked hard... and it showed! Andrew, you managed to pull of a rifleman's score with malfunctions and my faulty math... huzzah! To everyone else... keep dry firing at home and keep on persisting.
Ross, you were "knocking on the door" with a 204.. your scores improved greatly with each AQT... I'm sure we'll see you surpass that 210 at your next event.
Karen, thank you for the food throughout the weekend... you sure would make one heck of a blue hat! (... or personal chef to keep us instructors from going hungry!)
Kara, it was nice seeing you again kiddo! If I remember correctly you used a rest while shooting (at Knob Creek) & this weekend you used a sling! Keep up the work and pretty soon before you know it you'll be doing the AQT's in all 3 positions.
Carrie & Alex, it was nice meeting you two. Practice at home what you've learned this weekend, and I look forward to seeing you at an event later this year.
Alexis, you went from not being able to hit paper at all to getting most, if not all your shots on paper. That there is improvement, and you're sure to get better with time. Glad you had fun!
Sam, I look forward to working events with you in the future. You'll be a good addition to the AS instructor cadre.
Steve, I hope to see an OHat on you soon! You got the rifleman's score under your belt... time to really get to work now!
Alex, your scores improved with each AQT... keep it up and with time and practice you'll shoot that magic # like your dad!
UL, Pup, Mudcat... it was a pleasure working with you guys, and I hope to see you all on the trail again soon. Sam, we need to rub some dirt on that shiny new orange hat!
Well what can I say but.....I sure wish that line boss would get the commands right. #) Yes it is noticeable that I have been slacking a little. I promise to remedy that over the next few months. It was great to see old friends again and new ones alike.
What a fantastic experience! I couldn't have asked for better weather for a first Appleseed event.
I knew going into the event that it would be a great learning experience, but I never would have imagined the level of knowledge I would leave the weekend having gained. All of the instruction was top notch. The telling of our fine nation's history really drew me in, forced me to imagine myself in the shoes of those brave citizens, and really painted the picture for me of what the Appleseed Project is really about. This is an important initiative you all are involved in advancing.
And let's not forget the marksmanship portion of the weekend! It was great seeing a direct correlation with proper rifleman techniques to group patterns. Seeing an immediate impact on my groups from proper sling usage, breathing, and trigger control was eye opening. I will continue to practice these techniques so that they become natural.
Needless to say, I had an amazing time. I was fortunate to get to meet all of you fine folks who share similar interests in defending the liberty that was paid for dearly by our forefathers.
Unbridled Liberty, Pup, Barbie, and Mudcat...it was great getting to learn from you all. Y'all showed true professionalism in the way you ran this event. Ironhead - you will also make a fine instructor, as I got to experience your ability for keen observations during the ball and dummy drills.
All in all, I hope to get to another Appleseed event with you all sometime in the near future. It will be interesting to see what nuances I pick up the second time around that maybe I missed the first time through. My next personal challenge is to shoot Rifleman on the AQT with my M1A! That ought to be fun (and expensive)...
Signing out, proud to be an American!
