A kind gentleman on a gun-related IRC channel introduced me to GunBot.net. It is a live aggregation of ammo prices, meaning it watches dozens of sites and posts their inventory in real-time (without a browser refresh). You can set a per-bullet threshold price for a notification. I set mine to play a loud sound any time .22LR goes below 18 cents.
I haven't landed any ammo yet, but I've seen some very decent deals. Often if the price and brand is good you have about one minute to place your order before they are sold out. Still in all, much better than the alternative.
Hope this helps!
Ill vouch for Gunbot, posted about it in the Iowa forum.
Ive scored 2 500 round bricks of Remington Subsonic from MidwayUSA using that site.
Price was 10 cents a round after shipping, which is a little over double what I used to pay. Still, thats half as cheap as most stuff on the net right now.
It's a great way to search for ammo, it's been posted multiple times. Talk to a manager at Walmart or what ever store and find when they put out the ammo and be there, this has worked well for me.

Our Walmart get shipments of ammo every evening, and there is usually 30-50 people in line for it, three box limit, and no .22LR coming in at all.
