I have been contacted about an opportunity for us to set up a table advertising AS at the Wolf Creek State Park near Sullivan, IL. The event is sponsored by the DNR and they expect about 500 youths to attend. They are promoting the advantages of several outdoor activities for the youths. Apparently they have some kind of rifle instruction - without a berm. They may have a berm at the event next year and it is possible we could hold an AS at that time. There are a couple of ranges nearby where we could investigate having Appleseeds. Our primary concern now would be trying to get these youths, and their parents, interested in AS.
This event is May 18-19, with the most activity on the 18th. It is important that we have people in attendance to present our program to them. If you can help, please notify me and I will place you in contact with the promoter.
I'll put in a plug for this one. I grew up in Sullivan (Gateway to the Kaskaskia Valley! Home of Moultrie County's only stoplight!) and it is a good area with strong values aligned to Appleseed. They have always had strong historical associations with many Civil War and Mountain Men reenactor groups.
And for what it's worth...the town is Sullivan in Moultrie County...named for Fort Moultrie on Sullivan's Island. You know, the Fort Moultrie 1775 flag in our Flag Tour? http://www.loeser.us/flags/revolution.html

Bump to Top.
Come on guys. This has the potential for tremendous benefits for IL. &) ::)
I cannot commit to that weekend. I have a lot of equipment installations that run through weekends and MFG production delays have made these installs moving targets.
With that said if someone is willing to step-up I can get you outfitted with the needed promotional material for a professional looking table.
PM me and copy DonD if you can do it....
Thanks,
Karl
