Wow, these are getting better each year!
For the Second year Northern Chester County Sportsmans Club has hosted a special Appleseed dedicated to the Boy Scouts of Troop 971 sponsored by Valley Forge Military Academy and College.
Ten Scouts and their leader, Scoutmaster Chris Burgher participated on a beautiful late winter weekend. Did I say late winter? It was more like a spring day on both Saturday and Sunday with teperatures tickling the 60 degree mark.
The Scouts spent the night (25 degrees Early Sunday) in their tents and GI arctic sleeping bags. When asked if any were cold not a single hand was raised and they were all quite refreshed.
Each and every Scout showed great improvement in mastering the fundamentals of rifle marksmanship and are to be congratulated on their attention to detail.
The History was conveyed to a very interested group, many of whom had obviously studied the subjects as part of their education. This really comes as no surprise though as Valley Forge Military Academy has been turing out leaders for many, many years.
While we had no one score rifleman this weekend, all had a great time and report that they will be back again on the lines of Appleseed.
Thank you Northern Chester County Sportsmans Club for your generous donation of the range and ammunition for the staging of this event. We very much appreciate your partnership. Huzzah, Huzzah, Huzzah!
