Title: Ramseur 2/13! RBC Feb 17-24
Post by: Lawrence on February 27, 2013, 01:32:52 PM
The RBC Class of Ramseur 2/13 has graduated!

This year brought us 17 students:

2 from PA: Michael & David
4 from TN: Marty & son's, Joshua, 14 and Jonathan 12, with their dear friend Sam (aka. The Rev.Dr.Phd.D.D. etc! >:D).
7 from VA: Larry & Ron (memorable graduates of Ramseur 8/10 and 2/11), Zack & son, Samson, 14, Josh (now new Orange Hat, "C.I.A") and Zack ( IIT3 need forum name).
4 from NC: Adam (adamsod, from Ramseur 2/12 and now a Shoot Boss), Dave (cdavidhord, Ramseur 8/12 now a Red Hat) and Jeremy (Goliath, Ramseur 2/12) and Jesse (now new Orange Hat, jes834).

All but our youngest, scored Rifleman during this RBC. Speaking of youth, Joshua, age 14, shot a 235, Zack, age 14, shot a 241 and Larry, age 65 rounded out the high scores with a 232KD . Our precious North Bridge water, courtesy of kDan, remained unused since no one shot a 210.

The focus of this RBC was to energize the committed with the urgency we currently face. Emphasis on "Libertyseeds" and heartfelt communication of our message at every possible opportunity, coupled with tireless promotion and underscored with polished and precise marksmanship instruction, should thrust Project Appleseed too new records. Selfless and dedicated volunteers who love and appreciate our inheritance is our hope and future!

Not so Serious Observations:

Probably resulting from the current ammo situation, Larry observed that the "brass chickens" were extremely active this year! Regardless, this group came to shoot and everyone took advantage of the even more precious "range time"! Reloading is now on everyones agenda.

A low of 15 degrees Sunday night sent most campers to a warmer place and made the local restaurants a better choice than camp stove cooking. Burrito Bothers' was great for the Sunday evening dinner where we had the meeting room to ourselves. Sherry's was the most frequented this year, as hot plate lunches renewed everyone's spirit and Captain Tom's provided a tasty alternative!

Our little pack of "Range Dogs" was back and took full advantage of every snack opportunity.

At KD, Larry and Ron reconfirmed their previously earned "Long Range" rockers very handily. Samson earned his KD status on our 100yard 22LR course of fire. Our four Garand shooters took advantage of every stage and began the process of overcoming many of the challenges this great rifle brings to the AQT.

Upon requesting suggestions for improvements for future RBCs', these meaningful recommedations appeared on the chalk board the following morning:

WiFi service greatly needed
Range Catering
Maid Service for the Huts
Cup Holders and Recliners
Brass Policing Service (that could be combined with)
Target Scoring Service (combined with)
Golf Carts and beverage service

Clearly this group of 21st century Americans has their priorities in line with current thought. So, prior to escapeing the "Beltway", Larry and Ron have been tasked with pursuing the funding for these much needed improvements to our marksmanship experience! After which they will support us from retirement, any where but there.

All I want..........is a new shower

Photos to come.

Awesome! Nice turnout. Does my old heart good to see CF rifles in use at an Appleseeds.

And I am supposed to follow this act in late August???? I best work out and be sure to be on my best game if I am to walk away with my dignity intact.  ^-^

Cain't wait!  :---

I'm happy to see the young folks out there learning to shoot . I look at it as our job to pass on these skills to the young ones.

Great job Lawrence! Good to see a few from 2-12 make it back!

In addition to the golf carts and brass pick up, how about a heated slab for the firing line?

It's great to hear from old friends! You guy's were much appreciated mentors to me at previous RBCs' and I'm paying forward the investments you made.

BTW, Shoots Like a Girl (5/10! & 2/12!) made every effort to be at this RBC with Magloader (Skeeter!) but circumstances prevented it for this year. Anyway we now have a Tennessee Appleseed family equal in size to her tribe! Welcome Regulator (Ramseur 2/13!) to the great families of AS! He has 8 wonderful children with another "on the way"! Any chance we can get him to name it "Hoppes"?

We had a great week! Lawrence, you inspire me with your knowledge of our heritage and your knowledge as a rifleman. I have a lot to learn! Joshua and I got our orange hat this weekend from Ramblinwreck and we're already looking forward to Ramseur 2/14. Hope to see some of the guys from 2/13 there!
