Looking forward to getting spoiled at HSC.

Hot lunches and flush toilets, wooohoo! (Not exactly Valley Forge material, am I?)

-See you then!

I made contact with my new Representative, Congressman Richard Nugent and extended an invitation to him to attend an Appleseed. His scheduler sent me an e-mail that he will be able to attend the Hernando event on Sunday around 1:00 P.M.

From the e-mail;

"Do you know approximately what activities will be taking place at 1PM?. Also, I wanted to see what expectations do you all have from him. Would like him to take part in the shooting practice and/or listen to the stories? Just so the Congressman can be prepared. Thanks again!

Also, I wanted to double check with you that the events in Hernando County take place at  the Hernando Sportsman's  Club on Commercial Way?"

I need some idea of how to answer. I have offered to bring all of the necessary equipment.

I would get the congressman on the line asap. Less chance of getting into trouble that way. Unfortunate that he can't hear much of the history. Perhaps it might be time to do an unscheduled history break? 'Sides, if he enjoys the shooting and finds the challenge there, maybe he just might come back for a full weekend. Try to keep his "handlers", should he have any, occupied somewhere else, preferably on the line with a rifle. This is my humble opinion, worth every penny of what you paid for it.

First thing I'd do is make sure he hears the safety briefing for the benefit of the rest of the line...

might want to tell him twice...

i'd look for a lunch break right about that time and give him DOM/BW.  Since it's Sunday...

Might want to do a quick post-lunch review of all that's been learned that weekend from the 6 steps to prone and NPOA and set up squares for post-lunch zero confirmationing before ya hit the grind...

Whatever ya do,  don't change up the POI too much just cuz he's a Pol...   that tends to give 'em big heads...

If he brings handlers,  they make good target holders...

If they bring photographers for photo ops...

I'd find the lady shooters on the line that're chewing the center out of the "V" ring and put him right btwn 'em.

"Congresscritter tries to shoot like a girl,  film at 11"...

be sure to invite him back for a full 'seed...

Hell's Bells Doug,  you know what to do :)

It's not my shoot. P. Henry should figure what we want to present. The Congressman has an A+ rating from NRA. IMHO, I think the History is the more important, but that's just me. I think we should let him decide weather he wants to shoot or not and what he wants to take away from the event. From the email I get the impression he will have a short time available.

I miss u wiley.  ^-^

Heads up guys - PHenry does not spend much time here - fluke that I even saw this. Please advise me of anything I need to see via PM or phone call. With such a big mouth, best if I keep it closed as often as I am able.

First, kudos to Doug for inviting him and apparently succeeding. In my experience, no point in getting too worked up - he lay or may not show. Even the good ones are very busy and just as important. Agree with Doug on history, but 9mm also has a point about keeping them occupied. We owe a good event to all the "little people" right? Cain't git too wrapped up in celeb and fail to run event properly as a result.

It's so imperative that he hear the history, I would say we must modify POI a little to place DOM in his presence. Just smack me in forehead until I let go of POI - I'll be fine.  :wb:

I hope he shows and we can get him on the line and listening to history. Like Wiley says - best if we can get him to come back and bring others of his ilk or family.

Nicely done Doug,
PH

I spoke with the Congressman's scheduler this afternoon. He will only have an hour +/-. As he should be showing up around 1:00 P.M. I would suggest that DOM and an AQT. He would get a good taste of AS. This guy is retired LEO so he should know the basics.

I'll be there Sunday and will have gear and ammo for him to use.

Sounds like a plan from which to deviate!
