We are having an RBC in NC February 17. Hope to see a large delegation from Kentucky as we did last year. KDan from NY is the Shoot Boss again and he is bringing the NY crew. It is an awesome week of intense marksmanship and heritage, but a lot of fun! Hope you can make it!
They plan some really fun KD shoots as well as KD AQT

I'm giving it some thought about going to the RBC, any hints beyond the FAQ on the sites.
Any body camping for the week?
I looks like the average low's for the nite run in the low to mid 30's.

I have camped through 3 Feb Bootcamps.(09, 10, 11) It's usually not that bad. The coldest that I have seen it was around 18f early in the morning but it warmed up fairly quickly. The new showers (indoor) might or might not be ready but I have used the old ones in the 30's and 40's and it was fine.
Dress in layers because the days will warm up. Have a warm sleeping bag and a pad (it can be a cheap walmart foam pad). You can always heat some water and put it in a stainless container in a sock as a bag warmer. Also wool socks and long underwear (or synthetic long underwear) are preferable to cotton. When the cotton gets wet from sweat, it quickly loses it's insulating ability. Wool keeps 60% of its insulating ability when wet.
You should go. You will learn a lot. Meet some great people and have a good time.

Stay in a hut if that is an option for you. No need to camp on the ground.
What hut, how do you get into one?
DAVID
Go to the information page for the Boot Camp. There should be information on the huts on that page, if not you can PM Lawrence and he can give you more info on the huts. I believe there are 3 of them and they are first come as far as reserving them. There is a small fee, I think $10 per day and they have heat.
Camping in a tent is not bad either. I did that last year and it was fine. They have an outdoor shower with heated water but usually you can find someone with a hotel room that is willing to let you get a shower.
It is an excellent experience!! You really should go. I made life long friends at the one last year.

Send a PM to "wildman" to reserve a space in a hut. They are squad style huts. I was alone in mine during the last RBC. But I think they hold up to four if needed. Last year they did an instructor hut and a students hut. Camping or the hut are the way to go. I think the few who stayed in near by hotels missed out on a lot of campfire time.
