It was reported in the Carlsbad Current Argus on January 5th 2013 that NM State Representative Miguel Garcia, D, Albuquerque is proposing to carry a bill that would require all gun show sales, and private sales of guns to have a background check prior to the sale. The measure would carry a $1,000 fine plus a possible 1 year prison sentence. If you are opposed to this measure please contact your legislators to request their non-support of this proposed measure. The following is a list of local representatives and Senators.

As usual, the email isn't valid, typical politician. Stay on them Eve! :)....O.L.
Shorty and I spent a few hours at the meeting and getting to know the maze that is the Round House. Meeting was packed and moved to regular assembly chamber. hb77 ended up tabled 8-8 vote. Some issues raised concerned bringing public safety into line with FBI requirements to access NCIC database by being "point of contact group" and other issues of Fed bending the state to their will. Slowing the bill to get distance from recent events = good. Giving the schemers time to stuff in more amendments not printed up on public web site = not so good. Getting to know the players =priceless.
The adage about Government being like making sausage is true except for the result being palatable.
