For the second year in a row Appleseed has conducted a shoot for the BSA at a winter camp out in Tennessee. This time it was at the Latimer High Adventure site in Spencer, TN. Appleseed State Coordinator TnColonel and I conducted a full Appleseed for the scouts at this brand new high adventure location on Friday and Saturday. We had a great group of scouts and one young lady who gave us all we ask for at an Appleseed, a teachable attitude.
Even though the temps never climbed above freezing with a pretty steady snow and sleet all day Saturday the shooters persisted and everyone had a good time. On the first Redcoat we only had four 100 yard shooters day 1. By the end of day 2 we had two 400 yard shooters, two 300 yard shooters, four 100 yard shooters and one shingle hit. Great improvement! We didn't create any new Riflemen but Connor got very close with a 208. He says he'll be back at a future event at TnColonel's home range in Manchester and I predict he will join the ranks of Riflemen when he does.
