Title: Fear or Pleasure?
Post by: Unbridled Liberty on December 27, 2012, 09:20:16 PM
Fellow Appleseed Instructors, does the prospect of imminent infringement upon our God-given, Constitutionally-protected rights scare you?  Do you break into a sweat and furrow your forehead when you walk into your local gun shop and see the walls almost bare of black rifles and the shelves almost empty of 30 round mags?

Do you despair when you hear fellow 2nd Amendment "supporters" declare that "Nobody needs those high capacity clips.  We need to ban those."?  What are you feeling?  Frustration?  Anger? Fear?  Pleasure?  Wait...what?

"It must afford the greatest pleasure to the friends of liberty and the constitution, to perceive the country so thoroughly awakened to a sense of their danger." The Boston Gazette, 1773

We must not despair.  We must push on.  We have a tremendous opportunity in the coming year.  The country is being alarmed!  People are waking up!  Our fellow citizens need our urgent message.  If you have faded out of Appleseed in 2012, NOW is the time for action.  Contact your State Coordinator tonight and ask him/her how you can help in 2013.

Here is another quote for you:
"When I see how few who talked so largely of death and honour are around me, and that those who are here are those whom it was least expected, I am lost in wonder and surprise. Your noisy Sons of Liberty are, I find, the very quietest in the field. An engagement or even the expectation of one gives a wonderful insight into character." Colonel Joseph Reed, aide to General George Washington, 1776

Now is no time to be quiet.  It is time to be EFFECTIVE.

Hope.
I guess that is the feeling i have right now. At first it was fear and dread...but it has changed the more and more i think about it.
It shows me that as you said more are awake than what I thought. People are in my opinion defending the 2nd amendment with there wallets right now, not all but some. Now that they have those rifles, that we need to reach out to them with the message that made a huge impact on me. The message only Appleseed has been delivering.

Not kidding appleseed did change me, UL you played a part sir.

The more terriers we have nipping at the heels of our legislators they better off we are. Keep up and increase the pressure with the letters and phone calls. Grass roots is where its at.

Over on Indiana's page, I made a "one stop shop" of sorts of the contact information for Indiana's representatives in the House/Senate (mailing address and phone #'s).  This might be a handy thing for other states also...

Good points and let us not forget to call those who can be effective in stopping the anti rights juggernaut .

John Boehner 202 225 6205
Each call represents lots who have the same mindset who did not call .

I recently received this note from a shooter:
"I took your class with my young daughter in ____________ last Fall. I am really scared right now. Thank you for your service to our country."

My response:
"Hi ___________. I remember you both. To be honest, sometimes I feel the fear welling up. But I believe that God is in control, and in the end, everything will be OK. But we still have to do everything we can for as long as we can to change the course we are on. People ARE waking up, but we need everyone's help. Have you considered helping Appleseed as a volunteer?"

Excellent Question. Does the prospect of imminent infringement upon our God-given, Constitutionally-protected rights scare you?

Yes it does.

But it also makes me feel proud of the time, talent and treasure I have invested into the Appleseed Program.

The lines of Americans, who were woken up to their heritage.

The lines of Americans who learned of the sacrifices made by  people that we honor by sharing their stories.

The lines of Americans who were taught proficiency with a Rifle.

The lines of Americans who were encouraged to begin participating in our system of Government.

When somebody asks me what have you done to protect the Second Amendment, I can honestly look them in the eye and say more than most.

And so can you. But enough of the feel good stuff.

Grab your buckets, Bailing time is here

These are not Icebergs on the horizon.

This is a scarlet red serpentine snake with steel bayonets for fangs
  marching onto Lexington Green.

The only thing standing between them and Second Amendment is the
American People. There is no question that a full out assault on our
Second Amendment Rights is underway.

Just as General Gage sent LT Col. Smith to disarm the colonists by
seizing their powder and ball.

So have the regular crowd of Second Amendment Infringers, have begun
their attempt by introducing new laws.

Time to practice the Civic Participation we encourage.

Appleseed  had a table at  the MWCA gun show in Rochester, Minnesota today.

WE WERE SWAMPED

it was obvious to all who worked the  table

busier than our last 3   gun show promo tables combined

The challenge card targets were hugely effective.

Appleseed sells itself, people are at last waking up and were literally declaring to us "I need to go to this, I  have put it off for too long"

The ship hasn't sunk yet.   And I believe I hear the the sounds of feet running to bring help.

The first person an anti-gunner calls when they need help is someone with a gun.

We have a wonderful opportunity at this time to take those fence sitters, who are starting to realize that they might want a gun at home and not over the phone, and really get them up to speed not just on firearms, but also on their heritage.

Promo needs to be kicked into high gear. Not just our standard stuff either. I'm talking about you personally telling folks who are "leaning that way" or "having those kinds of conversations" that you have the answer for them. You know about a nationwide all-volunteer Heritage organization.

People want to hear the message. It's up to us to give it to them.  :sb:

Those who promote gun control measures based upon 'Common Sense' have never read it.
