Title: Mechanicsville, Virginia Dec 1-2
Post by: BD on December 03, 2012, 09:09:41 PM
A December shoot with temperatures in the 70's midday is a rare event.
A great group of 24 mostly first-time shooters took advantage and improved their skills with their rifles.
Shooting started late on Sunday due to range rules accommodating the neighbors, so we had an extended history session and discussed how our 25m practice translates to the actual distance.  It was a pleasure to see everybody soak up the history, with questions and discussions that involved everyone.

We had two new riflemen by Sunday night.  Matt claimed his patch after dancing around the 200 mark all weekend. John showed textbook perseverance by winning his patch on the last AQT as the light faded and he ignored the end of the weekend fatigue with a solid 214.  We had a good number of others coming close to the magic 210.  We had some great younger shooters that worked safe and improved constantly.  The group redcoat scores shot up impressively from Saturday to Sunday evening. I never get over how great it is to spend the weekend with fine people.

To have so many 1st timers and have so many dancing around 200 was crazy. Review those handouts, quiz one another, and get in some dry fire and range time. We've got your patches waiting. Round up a couple friends an bring them along next Appleseed.

BD, SGTMACE, Wolfhound, Dangerous Cook,
Thanks for a fantastic weekend.  You guys exceeded all my expectations.  Jeff and I are already planning on attending another Appleseed as soon as we can find one that meets our schedules.  Making Rifleman on the last try was a pleasant surprise.  Goes to show that you guys can train anybody!  Keep up the great work.  See you again soon, John
