Title: 7.62MM Firearms Inc. Question
Post by: CaptG on August 29, 2012, 12:22:47 PM
Does anyone here have any first hand experience with 7.62MM Firearms Inc. forged M-1A receivers and/or their work? I'm considering their receiver for a CMP parts kit build. I'm also looking at LRB (I know their quality is top notch) and Fulton, even though Fulton's receiver isn't forged.
A lot of people on m14.com are thumping boogers on Fulton but I've always been satisfied with their stuff (I've got one of their AR uppers & it's a shooter).
Any first hand experience & comment will be appreciated.

Sorry, have no experience with 7.62MM Firearems, but everything I have ever purchased from Fulton Armory has absolutely been first class.  I, too, have one of their excellent AR15s and it shoots better than I can hold.  :wb:  I don't own any of their M1 or M14 rifles, but have used some of their parts to upgrade my M1As and my M1 Garand over the years.

My only bitch with Fulton is that they're so busy right now their waiting times on a new rifle is excessive, but this should not be a factor if you're only ordering a receiver.  You might also consider one of their barreled actions that you could simply drop into your stock, zero, and go shoot.

I really would like to have one of their (Fulton's) Peerless M1 Garands in 7.62 with a Krieger barrel, but will probably buy one of the CMP "Special Grade" Garands in the same caliber instead.  However, I plan on adding the fitted match sights from Fulton Armory (hooded aperature with 1/2 minute windage/elevation - same sights on my M1A Super Match) to this rifle and bedding it myself.  I can always buy a Krieger barrel later after I shoot out the Criterion barrel the CMP stick comes with.

I don't have any personal experience with LRB either, but their reputation speaks for itself.

Decisions, decisions, decisions... how fortunate we are to have such a dilemma.  O0

Whichever way you go, sir, please let us know how you like the results.

Decided to go the Fulton "build your own" route.

A Very Pleasant Surprise from CMP - parts kit deliverd in 16 days! HR parts and a well used birch stock that unfortunately looked like it had been dipped in a vat of shellac. Cleaning it up, but have already ordered a Glass one from Freds.
