Title: mount AR15 sight on a Ruger 10/22
Post by: Kosciusko on July 17, 2012, 09:34:51 PM

I have a 10/22 and was planning to mount a low  rail on the receiver

on top of that goes a clamp-on AR15 A2 sight

now, will a tech sight front be tall enough or do I need something else?

If so, how much and where do I find it?

Thanks,

k

Doesn't NoDak have a taller "slip-on" front sight tower?

Looks a little taller than the Tech-Sight front sight assembly.

That would be cool, but the sight on my AR is about 1 1/4" higher than the Spud Nodak front sight on my 10/22.
Not sure what it would take to adapt an AR front sight tower to your barrel, but keep us posted.

I have thought of doing this with a 597, but the problem I found is that the height of the receiver rail above the barrel is less than on an AR15 (the gas system moves the AR rail higher) so an AR front sight tower would be too high unless you can get a tall rail on the receiver to bump the rear sight up higher.
