Title: Montpelier Virginia, June 16-17, 2012
Post by: The Wolfhound on June 21, 2012, 10:20:40 PM
29 different shooters graced our lines and among them produced 9 new riflemen and one repeater.  On the beautiful range provided by our host, The Cavalier Rifle and Pistol Club, we enjoyed one of the prettiest weekends any of us could remember.  Pleasant shirt sleeve temperatures allowed our shooters to concentrate and achieve these amazing results.
The regular "Central Virginia" crew of Sgt Mace, BD, Dangerous Cook, and The Wolfhound, supplemented by Adamsol coming up from North Carolina kept things moving.  Adamsol knocked out his "second strike" and Dangerous Cook took care of IMC and positions to finish up her full instructor and was awarded her Red Hat to cheers from the shooters.
Special recognition goes out to our new riflemen: Jule, Kevin, Jeff, Andrew, Christopher, Bob, Derrick, and Dan.  Congratulations on your Rifleman score!  Extra Special congratulations to Dee for not one, but 5 Rifleman scores on Sunday!  You certainly got a grasp of NPOA!  Young Dominic impressed us all by reciting all 6 steps of firing a shot.

It's best to head to the range with a plan for the day. Quite obviously shooters and instructors alike did just that. Simply a fantastic AS event.
Congratulations to everyone for an amazing outpouring of effort. The final results prove it.

Thanks to the instructors for a valuable and fun Appleseed. With their advice, my groups shrunk by 2/3 over the weekend. Thanks also to the Cavalier R&P Club for hosting us at their beautiful facility.

We'll introduce the GF to Appleseed at the September session. Meanwhile, I'm going to keep practicing what seems to be the critical element - finding that NPOA in a comfortable, consistent position.

It was a great group of shooters and the enthusiasm was powerful.
I can't wait for the next one.
