Title: Corona, CA June 16-17, 2012 AAR
Post by: Camljr on June 18, 2012, 09:27:28 PM
First of all, I want to thank Rauhauges shooting range for keeping a range intact for Appleseed! They even supplied trash cans and Privie for us...

26 brave souls came out in the 94 degree weather on Saturday to douse themselves in a little marksmanship training and a lot of heritage and history...

The early redcoat showed 7 hit all three in the 100 yd target, 1 got the 200 yd qual, and 1 got the 300 yd qual. We had our work cut out for us as instructors, thats for sure...  But the attendees listened intently, and applied what we taught them, and we had a few knocking on the door with scores in the 180's and David had a 190 by end of Saturday.

The evening redcoat shows vast improvement, with 7@100, 4@200, 3@300, 3@400, 5 hit the plank, and one cleared the redcoat! (sorry, I did not remember who it was)...

Sunday morning came early for the 20 returnees. We got right to instruction, and the attendees were doing well as the day progressed.

By midday, we had our first Rifle(wo)man Sandy who showed she knew her stuff with a 218.  Way to go Sandy!!! O0

Others who got close to that rifleman score were: Lea=190, Mia=201, Kenny=202, chuck=204.   So close you all... We will see them back again, I am sure of it!  :'(

We ended the day with  2 more folks making rifleman:  Kevin with a 219, and Elliot with a 223...

All in all a great day, with 3 new riflemen, and Leo, who previously shot rifleman at his last Appleseed, brought his wife and 2 daughters to this Appleseed, and stepped into the orange hat today!

Leo is a natural, and will be a great asset to Appleseed.. I look forward to working with you Leo...

Well, I am sure I forgot something (I always do) so everyone else post their comments and fill in the blanks. @@)

I will post some pictures tomorrow, so come on back and see if there are any of you!

Also, a huge thanks to all the instructors that came out to help, this shoot came off well because of your efforts... and I appreciate the help each one of you provided. StormN ran the line like a shoot boss should, and will make a great one... (I am not sorry for tossing you into the deep end on Sunday, you handled it like a pro, Norm.... Thanks...

Looking forward to another great shoot in Corona July 14-15, 2012.....

I enjoyed the entire group of folks, my fellow Instructors, and all those pesky calamities that seem to concur up vizions of monsters in our nightmares..... :pop:

WASN'T OUR 1ST RODEO......Huh gang....... :DH:.

A job WELL DONE by ALL who attended! ^:)^ O0 ^:)^  (AIO)

Everyone, with a bright smile, a twinkle in the eye, were full of cheer! as we worked though out the day.

Something magic was in the air......and it was contagious!

It would be a pleasure to shoot with any of you folks again

Congrats to all the new Riflemen and to Leo, the new Orange Hat.

My favorite moment was mid-day on Saturday, when I asked Pedram how he was feeling and smirk emerged on his face, growing into an ear-to-ear smile. He said, "N.P.O.A. Wow, it makes a big difference!" He showed me his first target of the day, which was all over the page with a 20 MOA group. Then he showed me a target after he learned NPOA, and his shot group was under 4 MOA.  Keep it up and you'll soon be a Rifleman.

I look forward to seeing you all on the Appleseed trail.

And remember to read the Declaration of Independence out loud at your family BBQ on the 4th of July!

Thanks to everyone who helped us diagnose our hardware problems all weekend.  Since I nearly cleared the Sun AM Redcoat (missed headshot), I know it can be done, and I know what I need to do before the next AS (LOCTITE).

Congratulations to Sandy, Kevin, Elliot and especially Leo and family.  See you all again!!!

Thanks Sheri for taking & posting pix, since there's really no good time for us shooters to "shoot" pictures.

Bob (& Mia)

Congrats new riflemen. I wish I could have stayed longer. The heat was getting to me. Maybe I will see some of you in Rainbow.
