Burlington Flats, NY
We had what the southern half of the country would say good weather for a shoot, but according to this guy, it was Hot up here in the Northeast, Hydration was the key focal point for personal health and well being. Periodic breaks were a necessity, which are great teaching opportunities as well.
Even though the sun was cooking us on the line, we had a very good group students that had a great desire to hear the history of our country and to learn the art of the rifle.
Everyone showed marked improvement in their skills with the rifle, one gentleman being a Navy veteran had never shot in the prone position before, he was having a grand old time, when I asked him how he was doing, all he could say was, this is Fun,,, and he greatly improved his skills,,,
These students were a joy to have at B-Flats, most of the line were repeat Appleseeders, and 90% of the line was made up of family members, after all it was Fathers Day!!
Saturday being a very busy day on the 25 meter line, the fundamentals were taught and Sunday was the Known Distance portion of the event, I pulled students that desired to go to The KD range off the line to have them see that what we teach there would take them out to known distance, we had a .30 carbine that did very well at KD, AR's, a Mini 14 and .22rf as well, everyone got a chance to actually use their sight adjustments and to verify the true click value of their equipment,,, it is a valuable and necessary part of what we teach here at these events.
So much work can be done with a .22rf then just plinking cans across a field, .22rf groups at 100 were 5 moa or less on all rifles with a min of 10mph wind to boot, wind here at B-Flats is squirrly to say the least, it is a great place to learn and practice shooting in windy conditions especially with lighter bullets such as .22rf at 100 and 200yds and 223's at 300yds.
This weekend proved to be very rewarding to instructors and students alike we met new friends and saw old friends as well.
Plus we gained 1 new Rifleman Lisa A. with a score of 232 this lady has been to one other event here at B-Flats, her Husband and Son are also Qualified Riflemen as well, a very proud family indeed.
Previous Rifleman Dean G. did it again with a score 221 I believe, a very accomplished shooter and High Power Instructor as well from our area of Central New York,,,
I would like to Thank all the Great Americans that came to this event, for myself and my instructors you folks gave us an event that we can look back on with fond memories, Burlington Flats has an uncanny ability to draw in Good People.
My personal Thanks have to go out to Eric J. (A rifleman as well) for helping with scoring targets and running for our chicken BBQ dinners on sunday from a local firehouse' event, I think 23 dinners were ordered by our people.
Dave K. for helping with behind the line duties as well,
Ted and Lynn for being very helpful with everything Appleseed, helping to set up the range before the shoot on Friday with me and with Lynn being a future Instructor as well they are a great asset to me and to Appleseed.
And Thank you AwesomeAustin (Burlington Flats and New York's youngest instructor), for a Fathers Day gift to me of The book of Ruger and his Guns,,,
Thank you to Burlington Flats Fish and Game Club for Hosting these events, It's a Great place to be,,,
There were pictures taken, but not by me (camera is MIA) hopefully they will post these when they can.

Nice job by all, sounds like all blended into a team, hot? Ya mean the snow is gone out there?
Hope your camera shows up, always enjoy the photos.
Nice work on the KD portion
Sounds like another typical SgtRock Appleseed weather! Its either hot or cold or raining or snowing! Dispite the weather, all enjoyed and learned a lot! Congrats to the new and repeat Riflemen! The Known Distance (KD) range at Burlington Flats is super. Everyone should at least once attend an Appleseed at B-Flats and learn to do KD there. Thank you Burlington Flats!
Job well done by all!
Gary
Great job
SgtRock is right. B-Flats brings out GREAT people. Congrats to all. The road to Riflemen is challenging, but well worth the trip. Riflemen persevere. Congrats to the Riflemen, but also a hoorah to all who work hard on the challenge. The trip to a Riflemen is challenging, but it does not end there. Keep up the great work!!
Thanks B-Flats for being such a great and homey place.
I'm blaming Vibbit and Gunville for bringing this hot weather to Burlington Flats. Sunday thankfully had a wonderful breeze that kept the sun from baking us.
This was an outstanding weekend. Everyone showed progress, it was great to see Lisa's smile when she became a riflewoman. The greatest reward for being an instructor is to watch your students improve, and it was a very rewarding weekend.
Lynn, Ted, Dave, Eric thank you for all your help. Your support makes these events at Burlington run so smoothly.
To everyone who came to this event, I hope to see you all again at another Appleseed.
..I am always glad to read great things about Sgtrock and Burlington Flats...
..Great Job & I miss you guys up there..
.....Strength & Honor....... JW.......
Great job (as usual) by all. I really need to get up to BF soon. I just love that Range and the people connected to it.

I'll second Viet Vet, that BF crew is a great bunch, led by a great teacher, sgtrock. Can't wait to get out there again. What a great place to shoot KD. O0 (http://o0)
What a great weekend! Burlington Flats is just a beautiful club for a shoot. The location is phenomenal and the scenery breathtaking. Really good energy there. If you haven't been there, well come on up. I can tell you that you won't be disappointed.
I got to improve my skills, meet and make new friends and the history lesson was the BEST. Sgt Rock and Dan, thank you so much for the passion you put into the history lesson, it goes right to the heart! We all need to remember what our fore fathers gave up their lives for and the liberties that they felt were so important for the generations to come. The insights they had are mind boggling. We all need to work on getting more people involved and remember what this country is about.
Thank you to Bob and Bob for being such great instructors and giving your time so we all can improve. Austin and Ethan, you are two incredible young men, so focused, committed and knowledgable at such a young age. We definitely need more young people to follow your example. I feel lucky to be able to watch and learn from all of you.
Dan, it is an honor to know you. I thought about all you said to me and it really helped. It has been a pleasure to be able to work with you. I am looking forward to becoming an Instructor and working with you.
Sgt Rock, you are the best! You give you heart and soul for this program. Endless amount of time and energy. You are the reason that I want to become an Instructor. Thank you for all you have taught me so far. I am looking forward to all there is to learn. It is definitely an honor to know you and call you my friend.
Project Appleseed is a great program!!!
Thanks for the kind words everyone,,,
I think that this is the best program doing the most good, for this country at this time, that I am a part of, it is positive, direct, to the point,,,
The marksmanship is the high light for some, but I try to really instill the necessity of knowing our history, because if we don't know where we have been, how could we possibly know where to go,,,
These events are great way to do just that, even though I think we are preaching to the chiore at times, But during the days at these events people are amazed at what they were not taught at school, the same thing happened to me when I came into this program at my first shoot here B-Flats, I was so impressed with the knowledge of the instructors, that I knew I needed to be part of this organization. So I started on my Appleseed Trail,,,
The journey I have started seems to be without end, I hope it becomes part of many who come these events.
I really enjoy that folks like coming to Burlington Flats, it is were I live, so it is my duty as an instructor to give as much as I can to help save this listing sinking ship.
All this could not be done without the folks that help, not only with manual labor but also with words of encouragement too.
Thank you all for you do as well,,,

P.S. I'll be on the range again this weekend (sunday) if anyone cares to drop by. They kind of always turn into unofficial mini type seeds anyway. Steel will be up at unknown distances and camouflaged as well for your enjoyment, lets find them, range them and engage them.
Will attempt to post some pics of this great Appleseed!
Pic came out good will try a couple more.
