Title: CMP question
Post by: The Wolfhound on May 23, 2012, 12:13:27 AM
A new member has asked: does he need his RWVA membership card or just proof of purchase from Eventbrite to prove membership for a CMP purchase?

Membership card ideally.  Could try Proof of Purchase but not sure.

Per free, current 2012 CMP catalog, following requirements:
-membership in CMP-affiliated organization:  RWVA is one, as are many clubs and state associations...
-marksmanship activity (the "green slip" given out to participants @ PA shoots)...can also use past military or LE service, and a number of other qualifying activities...waived if over 60...
-several other requirements, e.g. notarized purchase form...see specific checklist in the catalog...

Good news is once a CMP purchase has been made, purchaser is assigned a CMP Customer number - good for THREE YEARS of purchases...plenty of time to save for that M1C or D and 5k of .30-06...

Also, remember, CMP will send PA instructors CASES of 2012 catalogs FOR THE ASKING, via email to their Customer Service, to be distributed at PA events - and, sooner or later, someone will get back to Orest Michaels (CMP Operations boss) and coordinate mutual promotion in our literature and theirs...

My hunch is that you will need the membership card (simply paying for or even attending an event does not constitute RWVA membership) but best thing is to call the CMP.

I believe the requirement is membership in a affiliated club (RWVA membership) and attendance of a markmanship/safety clinic (appleseed event).

Here is the link to the official requirements.  http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/eligibility.htm (http://www.odcmp.com/Sales/eligibility.htm)
