Title: Stevenson Shoot
Post by: RL on May 18, 2012, 12:14:09 PM
I want to start a thread to discuss the upcoming shoot in Stevenson.

It was suggested to me that we have a pre-shoot clean up. Also, we are having a porta potty brought in...are there any volunteers to that can come on Friday to clean up and have the toilet delivered?

Also, I think a Friday setup would be prudent, however I am concerned with the possibility of our supplies, stands, backers etc. disappearing over night. Any thoughts?

RL,

I'm not sure if I can come up Friday to help.  I can try to make it up Friday afternoon/evening.

I suggest we mark the three lines Friday night and drive the posts and hang wires for targets (if that is the method we choose to use).  We can hang cardboard backers on Saturday morning and take them down Saturday night.  I suspect Friday cleanup will finish up late in the day so we probably won't have anything to worry about.

Also we will want to inform Cascade Sportman's Club know we will be doing a cleanup so they can have someone with a truck/trailer come up and haul the garbage to the dump either late Friday night or very early Saturday morning.  They appreciate our help with range cleanup and they are allowed to haul range garbage to the local dump for free.

Thanks for starting this thread,

- ShadowMan

Ah. I did email them and the short answer was that no one will really be available because of their gun show. Which is fine. Worst case we stack the trash and they can retrieve it at their leisure.

I'm thinking of draging my trailer down from Marysville Friday & should arrive in the area around 4:00 pm depending on traffic.
Do you know if there any camping spots closer than Timberlake RV (its 10 miles east)?
Dry practicing.... :---

Thanks Shadowman.
It looks like Timberlake is closer:

I can swing by the range Friday after I drop off the trailer to help with the clean & set up.

I've attached a map that shows A (Timberlake location using GPS coordinates) and the other two suggestions.  Call around and see what your options are.

In any case, I look forward to meeting you at the shoot!  :)

My family is signed up for the aug shoot. Can someone give me the lay of the land? What does the firing line look like? Should we bring a canopy? Is there a place for our dog to hang out while we shoot?

Thanks

Hello Kimber and welcome.

I've never been to Stevenson so hopefully those who have will be able to answer your questions more fully.

If you use Facebook you may view a photo album of a recent event held at Stevenson by clicking on this link: https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.404368572940135.90283.163235577053437&type=3

Canopies are always good. Lay of the land is a parking area and an equipment line and firing line immediately adjacent to the parking lot. The range is quite busy, lots of activity and no matter where you put your dog it will be fairly close to at least one part of the range. However, I think there were at least 2 dogs around last shoot, but they were kept in vehicles. The next shoot will probably be much warmer, so the dog-in-the-car-thing might not work.

Thanks for the info and the pics. I see I'm going to need to improve my shooting mats between now and then.

Am I going to get in trouble if I don't shoot but want to help my family? I've already made rifleman and been through a couple of AS shoots. While I would enjoy shooting; I'd rather help my girls and wife. Will I step on toes if I'm not wearing an offical hat?

I'm willing but have you read this thread? http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=6150.0

That's a lot of alphabet soup. What's a PC or an IBC? Nowhere in there (that I could find) does it actually say what the first step is. I see IIT but who do I tell I'm interested?

You just did! We'll have you fill out a PC0, which we will provide, for the official first step.

Kimber Custom,

Could you PM RL with your e-mail address?  RL, could you send him the PDF of the PC0 so KC could print it out and have it ready for Stevenson in August?

KC - PC0 is all about understanding what Project Appleseed is about.  What is our mission, our purpose for existence?  We want to make sure potential volunteers know what our mission is before we start giving away hats.

We have a formidable task before us, but we are riflemen.  We persist and we overcome.
