Title: Target Master AR-15 .22 Conversion Kit

AR-15 with a 20" 1/9 Barrel

I had trouble with the first unit.
Cycling, firing out of battery...
They sent me a new one and even paid the postage.
NICE service and a great troubleshooting guide on their website.
I got two 25 round Black Dog Mags with mine.
The mags are basically the size of a standard 30 rounder.

It SIMULATES Bolt Lockback.
It locks partially open on an empty mag.
You can't drop the bolt on an empty mag.
No "Ball and Dummy" drills can be done unless you have dummy rounds to mix in.
IT DOES NOT EXTRACT UNLESS A ROUND IS FIRED.
Clearing a round from the chamber is a nuisance.
Pulling the bolt back several times will tipping the rifle will sometimes get it out.

Function
Just did an hour at the range.
It was 100% using CCI Blazer and Federal Automatch.
200 rounds or so.

Accuracy
I am BARELY a 4 MOA Shooter.
A 3 round group for me will often be 2-3 MOA then I'll have a few shots go wider.
I zeroed 25yards with .223 and had all 1" groups (GI Iron Sights) on a Target with Five 1" diamonds on it
I switched the Bolt to .22 and had slightly looser groups.
2 groups were 1.5" but could have been Shooter error.

Then I Shot AQT's using my Mossberg Plinkster on one side and the .22 AR on the other.
My scores were almost identical.

Verdict:
The Target Master conversion with CCI Blazer shoots pretty well.
Not quite as tight as my Mossberg 702 with TechSights.

Something to keep in mind....
The Bolt recoil spring has to 'play nice' with your Hammer Spring and the power of the Load you are shooting.
One of the many hazards of converting a Rifle as opposed to designing a dedicated .22

I'm thinking about getting an upper from CMMG, so I can use my lower, but have a real .22 barrel and bolt. And then, I'm sure, getting another lower to put that on. Black rifle disease...

Roland,
I have the CMMG lower and it works very well. Accuracy is more than acceptable for Appleseed.
However, it can not be repeatedly dry fired without damage to the firing pin. (breaking)
I spoke to CMMG tech service and was informed that this was a consequence of the design. The firing pin will break at the notch. (mine did, they sent new one n/c)
The tech recommended removing the firing pin for dry fire practice, which is easy, though not entirely convenient.
It may not make a great loaner rifle for this reason also, if that is your intent. I generally do not loan mine, I have several other loaners which go out first.
If this matters to you it might be a consideration. I love the upper and don't so much mind. YMMV
