BTT - This is a huge opportunity to reach the Seattle area - the highest populated urban area in our region. I need some help working this event to make it go well. There will be thousands of attendees, many who don't have firearms experience, who will be inspired to rediscover their inner rifleman when they see the Posterity Maiden poster.
This is a Friday/Saturday event. We need instructor and IIT volunteers to make this happen. This is a HUGE promotional opportunity for Project Appleseed in Washington State, especially the Seattle metropolitan area. Please check your calendars and sign up to volunteer sooner than later.
No guarantees right now....but I believe fidgit and I will be able to work this event...
Me and eert will be in Colorado. Sorry!

RL and Jo,
Thanks for being willing to help. Please let me know when things firm up in terms of your availability.
Everyone else: we could use 3-4 people at the booth at a time. I think this show will be big and will keep us busy.

I am willing on coming up and staffing the booth on Saturday. I would like to use this opportunity as a learning experience for the OR convention.

Thanks for stepping up to help in Washington, Prescott. I really needed help on Saturday because that is my grandson's birthday so I won't be able to help on the 16th.
We still need more volunteers to help with this show and the show the week following in Portland. I would like to have at least 2 volunteers in the booth working at a time. Ideally we would have someone else in the aisle (think Theophilus at the Portland gun show) drawing people in to start the conversation. Once the people find out a little about Appleseed, they will talk with their friends and we may be overwhelmed with interest. At least that was Mark Davis' experience at the Montana Homeschool Convention in March.
I have never attended a homeschool convention, much less worked one, so I am looking forward to this experience. We have an opportunity to reach out to a lot of new people who don't know about Appleseed. Our work at the gun show last month was useful experience as well, but I'm sure we will learn as we go along. Read the other IAARs from homeschool events from other states to learn what worked and what didn't, but just be yourself. We have a great program with a great mission and many homeschoolers are already dissatisfied with the direction our country is going. I think Appleseed will be a great fit in the convention.
Fidjit and I are both "in" for Saturday. We have to work on Friday....We can work the booth all day.

Most excellent. I will put you both down. Since I will be busy celebrating my grandson's birthday I will probably ask Prescott to bring the promo materials back to the Portland/Vancouver area with him. Then we will be ready for the Portland homeschool event the following weekend.
Thank you, everyone, for your help. Anyone else able/want to work the booth with me Friday? :sos:

You can put me down for Friday all day, or until I collapse, which ever comes first. I might even be able to drop in on Saturday. Anything I need beside my digital camera and my laptop?

Bring a lunch and some snacks. Bring your Appleseed shoot boss hat and other Appleseed apparel. Bring your wisdom on how to talk with homeschool parents to encourage them to attend an Appleseed or host a Libertyseed. I hope we can tell stories to a small crowd of parents/families gathered around our booth, so bring your best Hezekiah Wyman and Samuel Whitemore storytelling voice. :)

any plans for a page for the Oregon convention the following weekend? Dates, time slots, duties, etc? I am available for the entire time, I can just stay there. Once I'm in the Portland area, nothing else much to do...... that I'd rather be doing... while this is going on.
Also, I've got some ideas for period and pertinent literature, and will be eager to engage the crowd, tell stories, demonstrate, etc. Looking forward to seeing a LOT of people I already now well who will be there. the rest of them? Well, they're just friends I've not yet met. We can "fix" that then.

Actually there is a dashboard for the Oregon event. You can get to it here: http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=28367.0 (http://appleseedinfo.org/smf/index.php?topic=28367.0)
Tionico, are you volunteering to help with the Washington show too? If so, what is your availability? Can you work Friday or just Saturday?

I think it is useful to have additional resources to point them to. It lends credibility to our organization that we are serious about the history side.
Our main mission at this event is to point to Project Appleseed as a valuable resource for their homeschooling effort. We offer a fun and educational activity (IMC = math, KD = physics). We also bring history to life in a way that more books on the shelf can't. It is our approach to storytelling that makes the history come alive and become relevant to those who attend our events - whether the event is an Appleseed or a Libertyseed.

Thank you, Earl, fidgit, RL, and Prescott, for stepping up to help with this event. I will get the final logistics buttoned up and I will be in touch with you all with more details.
Thank you! O0
