The CMP has some surplus Remington 22lr for sale. $90 plus $24.95 shipping per case of 5000. That's 2.3 cents a piece delivered.
Bought a case. Looks like it's going fast.
I ordered a case through our gun club. Looks like a lot from 1995, if it was "new" Remington, I wouldn't have bothered....O.L.
Placed an order, and picked up a garand for good measure...ya know, as long as I'm sending my paperwork in... :---
One case ordered. I asked for two cases but am pleased/satisfied that my financial advisor approved the one case. Now if only I could get her to go to the range with me...

Hey all,
As stated in another post, CMP ran out of the Remington .22lr ammo pretty quickly. They currently are offering two kinds of Aguila .22lr ammo (standard and high-velocity). Does anyone have experience with this ammo? Is it any good? Is the price right? If so, I want to jump on this deal ASAP, even though it will take four months to get here.

Thanks for the input!

Just an FYI it is their standard price and it does take 4 months.
THIS ITEM HAS A 120 DAY DELIVERY
It is $274.95 delivered for 5000 rounds. That's 5.5 cents per round.
Their e-mail message the other day when they ran out was to go ahead and get it on order, even though it's out. You want to be on the list when it comes in.
My Ruger 10/22s and my bolt .22s love Aquila. I have found through shooting many rounds of ammo, Aquila sub-sonic, standard velocity, and high velocity ammo are more accurate and consistant with no FTFs or "flyers" than any of the brands and flavors of .22LR I tested. They are priced about $5 - $10 more per brick than other reasonable shooting ammo (before the recent ammo shortages and politics).
My $.02 worth.

The only problem that I've seen with Aguila on the line was one drop-in AR upper conversion that just hated the stuff. Misfeeds, light strikes, malf city. Tested the rounds in a 10/22, they ran fine. The AR owner swapped ammo with another shooter, problem solved!
If CMP website says it's back ordered but it allows you to purchase it, how long is it typically to receive it?

Last week they said they expect delivery end of April. Don't know how long it takes them to label and ship out after that.

By "typically" I assume you mean under "normal" circumstances? My order in November took about 1 month and my order in January took about 1 month. Based on that, I'd say...about 1 month. That's from date of order until ammo was in my hands.

Just got this in an email from CMP today:
"AGUILA .22LR AMMO. As is the case with many other sellers of .22LR ammo, the CMP has been sold out. We had posted information that we were expecting a resupply in April or May. The distributor has just informed us that the manufacturer "maybe" will deliver 200-300 cases by the end of May, but the remainder of our order will not be delivered until "maybe" October. Many of our customers have already ordered from us and we will fill the orders as the ammo arrives, oldest order to newest order. Thank you for your understanding of what is currently happening to the ammo market in the US."

UL- Did you have an outstanding order with them? I have two and have not received this email.

I was given a case of this Remington surplus by a friend and it's rested on the shelf all sealed up.
Does anyone have experience shooting it? What kind of performance did it provide?
Works fine in my 10/22, no problems with FTF/FTE. While this ammo does not have MOS (Minute of Squirrel) accuracy, I shot a bunch of squares a couple weeks ago and they are all in the black, just not all 1 hole.

I shot a sub 1.5MOA 10 round group at 200 yards with that Remington Ammo. It shoots better than anything else out of one of my rifles (including Eley Club, Eley Target, CCI Std, Aguila Std) and provides accuracy equal to or exceeding CCI standard in my .22 bullseye pistols.
Remington White Box is excellent ammunition.
Thanks for the feedback. Sounds like the ammo shoots better than I do. Always good to take a variable out of the equation. :))
