Title: Whistlepig 10/22 Barrels
Post by: Foppish Dandy on February 22, 2012, 04:47:01 AM
Has anyone had any experience w/ custom Whistlepig barrels?

http://www.wpgbc.com/

I picked one up for my new rifle... Curious what others' experiences w/ them have been.

Never seen one before. Out of curiosity, what other parts are you using?

I bought one of their barrels for my custom build.  Lightweight, and it's a tack driver.  Built it for my daughter, but I love to shoot it, too.

Hi Langer,

What is the shortest length of pull on that stock?

I spent WAY too much time on Rimfire Central last naight and saw people mention the Whistlepig barrels.  I wasn't looking for one so I sisn't pay much attention to them.

Hey Burbs... That rifle looks insanely familiar. Are you a Cali shooter? Has that rifle ever been used as a loaner at Corona?

Stand... I'm not sure how exactly to measure the length of pull, but here's a pic of the stock with a tape measure for reference. If you remove the spacer between the recoil buffer and the stock, you'll lose approximately another 1/4" to 5/16".

I wasn't totally happy w/ the adjustment screws work for the cheek and shoulder, so I did my best to measure them out and I purchased what I hope to be the correct diameter/thread-count. The construction of the unit is kinda funny... you can't extend the cheek pad any further up and have it stay in place without additional spacers (which I couldn't find online). To remedy this, I purchased a couple additional nuts with attached washers to keep the bolts in place... see the hi-tech diagram I attached (I'm doing the same for the shoulder pad, but didn't want to draw it. Long story short, when they arrive, I'll have hex bolts to replace the Phillips-head and flat-head screws and will be able to adjust the cheek-rest further up and have it be sturdy.

Thanks for the pic.  Way too long for my daughters.  LOP is trigger to the butt of the stock.

That will be Sweet when it is done.

It's definitely not stock for the slight of build... It fits my hand-size and reach perfectly. I've got long freakin' arms and big freakin' hands... I'm looking forward to using this when the rest of the stuff comes in on Monday!

Why does that anvil weigh!?!?

I knew I'd asked before but couldn't fin the thread. I hate this forum engine sometimes.

I have to admit, that is going to be one sweet looking rifle once it is done!

Couple quick comments: I have the VQ (not even attempting spelling) bolt handle, and it's always worked fine, but then again I use the standard ruger receiver. One tip on it, if you slip a piece of surgical tubing of the right size (can't remember the diameter), it makes it much easier to grip. Might ruin the look though ;) .

Anyhow, just a thought. let us know how it turns out, and I'm sure pics would be appreciated!

Nope.  I'm in Michigan.
