Another great shot at a great venue. Rainbow Range is a great place to have an Appleseed! We had a lot of new shooters, many women and youth shooters too.
Many of them were brought by a previous Appleseed attendee, so seventh stepping is working around here!!!
We had 18 on the line Saturday, and could have put a couple more on the line, but because of an alleged issue with Eventbrite saying we were sold out, we only had 18.
Saturday started off slowly with the usual equipment issues, but before lunchtime we had the scope and sight issues solved and some good groups were being seen.
Lunchtime saw myself doing first strike, Caseten doing second strike, and I followed up with the third. Most showed signs of "getting it" and the reason we honor their sacrifices, and we all need to pass on the heritage to future generations...
No rifle men on Saturday, but saw great improvement and Ian knocking on the door with a 186.
12 showed back up on Sunday to continue their quest to become a rifleman, even with the threat of rain looming. We had a few no shows because of the impending weather, but we only got a few sprinkles and then the sun poked out of the clouds of and on all day.
We had quite a few folks on the line fighting previous injuries and some positions would not work for them. They improvised the best they could and improved bit by bit. Previous Attendees Ian and Jeremy requalified Rifleman with a 227 and 223 respectively. Congratulations! :~ :~
Other high scores for the day saw: Ethan=173, Bob=170,Arthur=187, and Sarah=193.
And we finally have a new Rifleman. . . DAWN with a 215 . . WAY TO GO, GIRL! !.! ^:)^
Both Dawn and Ian added a nice new orange hat to their head .. Welcome to the INstructor Cadre! ~~:)
Excellent shoot and I hope to tell you all I met some great AMERICANS at this shoot. . .
Thanks to all the new instructors, I could not have done this shoot without you. . . O0
I will post some pictures later.
Some pictures to enjoy . .
more pics . . .
end of pics. . . .
Great shoot with a great SB. Thanks for breaking me in easy and helping me along Cam.
Thanks to the other instructors for making me welcome and helping me out when I needed it.
I gotta give a shout out to Sarah for sticking it out and pushing through the frustration of Saturday morning and hitting it hard again Sunday. She really exemplified the persistence of a true rifleman/woman.
Also to Esa (sp?) for getting back on the line and at least practicing the firing positions after getting that nasty burn in the first firing sequence Saturday morning.
Dawn and Ian, thanks for stepping up and taking orange hats. You won't regret it.
Hey All!
Sara and I had a great time!
As soon as Sara and I could find an internet connection we were signed up for Escondido March 31 - April 1. I have to say that Sara's first 13 shots compared to her last 13 rounds were night and day. I attribute this to her uncanny ability to pick things up faster than anyone I've ever known. But that knowledge has to come from somewhere. All the instructors did a wonderful job of passing along their knowledge. They way everyone worked with her really impressed me. We cannot thank you enough for the wonderful weekend you provided us with. It was refreshing to spend a couple of days with like minded people and to learn something new.
I want to personally thank again all who put forth their time, knowledge, patience, ans kindness. Specifically Cam, Jeff, Cody, and Babycakes for taking a closer approach to Sara and I. I hope to see you all again!
-Captain Awesome ;)
Hi!
Capt. Awesome and I had a blast at our first Appleseed event! Yes, I did had a slow/frustrating start on Sat... :wb: But I stuck through it and made a big improvement by the end of the day! :) By Sun, my highest score was 193!!! ^:)^
I like to thank Cam, Cody and Babycakes for stepping up Sat & Sun and helping me with my POA!!! After getting that down, I was hitting my targets almost everytime...now I need to work on the seating/kneeling positions.
Thank you Everyone for making this a pretty awesome experience and I can't wait for my next Appleseed event. Hope to see you all there...
Sara (aka Sassy)
Hey Everyone! Sunday's Appleseed was once again a great time... especially because I finally earned my Rifleman. ;D
My orange hat is waiting patiently for its debut at a future Appleseed. Until then, I'll just show off my target and 7th step with everyone I know.
Thanks again to Debbie for the great tips and for keeping the Rainbow range Appleseed friendly.
See you next month in Escondido.
Congrats to the new riflewoman! :) and welcome aboard to the 2 new orange hats! O0
Over all an awesome weekend!
Had fun this past weekend. Thanks for hosting one thing I wish we did more was shooting instead of standing around or going to score every position.
But results did ensue :)
hopefully you guys can see this it's straight from Facebook
Before on the left After on the right.

Congrats Dawn! Glad to have you aboard as an IIT... I hope to see you at Escondido putting that new hat to work on the line helping other shooters learn what you did already.
For most of us instructors, the best part is seeing someone going from few holes on paper, to putting together good groups, even getting the rifleman patch after I taught them the steps to get there... So Satisfying...
You will see.... The road to Rifleman has not ended, the journey has just begun! ~~:)

Had a great time, and hopefully I can make it to more weekends at Rainbow this year - a great place to hold an appleseed.
I'll have to bring my orange hat to an event soon!
Ian
I see lotsa new forum members and Rifleman too O0
Welcome to the forum and AS project . The founders are smiling at the efforts and passion each of you have demonstrated ;D ;D ;D
See you on the trail ;)
Yes indeed! Another awesome Rainbow Appleseed!
I do believe this was the best weather, wind wise, we've had here for an event. So nice to not be battling the wind knocking down the targets.
A BIG CONGRATS ^:)^ to Dawn for finally achieving Rifleman and stepping up to taking an orange hat. Congrats also to Jeremy & Ian for re-qualifying. And Ian, welcome to the orange hat cadre! I look forward to working with both of you soon.
Many thanks to all the instructors, especially Cam, for keeping all us orange hats in line. It was a great TEAM! And, congrats to all the students, especially Sara for the extraordinary progress made over the weekend. I look forward to seeing all of you at future events and we at Rainbow Range look forward to the upcoming commemorative April Appleseed.
Until then... Remember the sacrifice. Celebrate the liberty. Cherish your freedom.
