Portland metro Instructors and IITs,
It has been a while since we have had some trigger time and fellowship. My trigger finger is getting a little stiff and could use a little exercise. What do you say we get together for a picnic and do a little shooting?
When? I'm thinking either Saturday, February 18 or Saturday, February 25 would be a good time. Not too far away and not too soon so we can do a little planning.
Where? Stevenson range? (We'd need to bring target stands and it is a public range so we could do some 7th stepping.) Perhaps we could meet when one of our red hats who is typically on the road is in town.
Purpose? Get some trigger time and get caught up. Maybe do a little planning.
Who? Any instructor or IIT or Applecore (and their loved ones if they have an interest) who happens to be in the Portland metro area when we decide which of the two Saturdays works best.
What say ye, Appleseeders?

Either the 18th or 25th works for me, but the 25th would be better.... But in either case, I'm in!
To all:
I have a conflict on the 25th and can't make that day, but would be happy to enjoy some trigger time with all on the 18th.
Will also be happy to bring some food for a picnic.
Looking forward to seeing all of you there.
Theophilus (and Joni said she would put in an appearance also!)
Gosh...twist my arm...OK, thanks. Either date would work for me (I usually don't need an excuse to go shoot). If the weather is nice, it may be difficult to get everybody (depending on how many show up) on a shooting spot at the same time. In addition to having a picnic, it would be nice to bring rakes and large garbage bags to help clean up the ranges. They tend to get trashed by the usual minority of shooters and a clean up party of Appleseeders would sure help the Cascade Sportsman's Club, which has been doing this thankless task for years. Seeing people picking up trash around the range might set a good example to other shooters who otherwise tend to leave their litter, shot up targets and other junk. Also, those who haven't been to this range should be advised there are no restroom facilities, other than what nature provides up in the trees. ;)
Definitely interested. Would love to meet some of the NW crew.
When: Saturday, February 18 (10:00am so we can do some shooting then have lunch together?) :---
Where: Stevenson range
Who: Any instructor, IIT, or Applecore (and loved ones) who happens to be in the Portland metro area
Kenjo has a great idea, let's do a little range cleanup as well. We don't have an Appleseed until June at that range, but a little maintenance would be the right thing to do.
I will bring a pop-up in case the weather is less than ideal.
Pvt.Joker - will you be in town on the 18th? You are more than welcome to drop in. ..:..

Sounds great! Looking forward to meeting up and getting some trigger time in is always a bonus! :)
I've got a popup as well, I'll toss it in the back of the truck.... As well as a couple of rakes and garbage bags... :)
Other then in my truck I have no clue where I will be :o,trigger time would be nice but I have to make money :wall: , wish I could be there ,,ya 'all have fun ;).
Wade
Sorry you can't make it, Wade. We'll shoot a red coat target or an AQT for you. Perhaps another time.
Drive safe.

go out to 1000 yards instead,,hint singal load hot chamber can change impact by 1 moa , rest eyes between shots stare blankly at grass in front of you not focusing on anything remember you windage corrections (at that dis you will probably have wind from a few directions and values fun math) enjoy ;)
AmbulanceDriver, long time no see, welcome back. Jo and I likely will not be there...too far.
Hey RL! I agree, long time no see.. :) Bummer you won't be able to make it though....
My trigger finger has been seriously been itching for some personal attention. Unfortunately, my son's last basketball game of the season is this Saturday at 12:15.
Everyone,
I'm planning on getting to Stevenson around 9:30 or 10:00 am. There may be some snow so I want to make sure everyone can get to the range before lunch. You can reach me on my cell phone between 8:00 am until I get to the range. My cell number is area code three six zero followed by six hundred then eleven sixty seven.
For those of you with a GPS, here are the coordinates:
45 deg 40 min 30.0 sec N
121 deg 56 min 20.6 sec W
See you all tomorrow and don't forget to bring your lunch and warm clothes.

My plan is to be there about that same time.... I'll have my phone on as well, five oh three, four seventy five, eighty nine, thirty two
The rifle is all dried up and cleaned (had to take it apart to get the water out). Yep, it rained, hailed and blew but the pop-ups didn't fly away and we stayed reasonably dry. A good day's shooting with Theophilus, Ambulance Driver and Shadowman. Thanks for lunch, George! In addition to collecting some more red coat and AQT scores, we had a fine discussion at the restaurant in Stevenson where we talked about upcoming Appleseeds. Thanks for putting this together, George. We'll have to do it again soon. Maybe get some of the fair-weather folks out next time.
Yeah, mine is still drying out....... :) Almost took the action apart and put it in the oven to dry at real low temperature.... But decided that may not be the best of ideas.... :) But I took some advil to calm down my knee and neck.... Once that kicks in, I'll tear into it to make sure I've gotten all the rain out... &)
But it was well worth it to get to meet some fellow webfooted Appleseeders... ..:..
We got a little trigger time in, when the pop-ups weren't trying to blow away, or our tarps blowing onto us... But we managed to get a lot of cleanup done up there at the range, bagged up a lot of trash... And then got to eat some good food (thanks George!!!), and thaw back out while sipping coffee and having some good discussion about Appleseed in the Pacific NW.... Next time we'll have to try to order in some sunshine as well... :) Definitely need to meet some more of the PNW folks... But it was a pleasure to meet Shadowman, Kenjo, and Theophilus.
Kenjo - Great idea having us clean the range. It looked a lot better when we left it than when we came. We should have taken a before and after photo, but we didn't think of it because the weather was so wet and windy (not good camera weather).
Theophilus - Thank you for the ride to the range. It is always a blessing carpooling (or is it truckpooling) with you to shoots. The conversation can't be beat. Well done on clearing your redcoat and getting that nice 1st stage on the AQT.
Ambulance Driver - It was a pleasure meeting you and shooting with you. Thanks for coming out and helping with the range cleanup. I'm sure the folks at Cascade Sportsman's Club will appreciate it. Also thank you for the promotional material.
Indeed we will have to get together to do this again. Preferably we will be able to spend more time together working some shoots. :D
Pvt.Joker - Sorry you hurt your back and couldn't make it. :( Perhaps another time.
Mark Davis - I thought of my Montana friend as I smelled the first whiffs of burning gunpowder. Finally was able to shoot stages 2 and 3 prone. Shot a 235.

Yeah, I thought about letting the Garand bark while we were up there, let those guys over on the pistol range know what a *real* rifle sounds like.... :P But alas, we were all cold, wet, and the weather was getting decidedly uglier (ok, I know at least *I* was cold and wet... :) )... Plus, coffee and food sounded pretty good at that point... But I know I definitely need to get some more trigger time in.... Some of that perfect practice we were talking about...... And I'm not gonna blame it on my equipment...... But definitely a couple things I still need to do to that 10/22....
