At our BFA leaders meeting yesterday, I got funding approved for holding the Youth Shoot again this year. Just wanted to give you all a heads up now. Figured anyone who helped out last year could pipe up and let me know if you can/will help again this year. Or, if you didn't get a chance last year...and don't want to miss out on the fun this time...let me know! Anyone who helped out last year, and is willing to help again this year...I am offering a FREE NRA RSO certification to you (if you don't already have it) as my thanks :) we can work out the details in the near future.
I'm heading out to Vegas for the Shot Show this afternoon, so may not get much opportunity to check in here over the next week.
Hope you all had a great Holiday season...
If its outside of the school year count on dad and I again. Might have to hit you up on that RSO offer as well...
Dougum
PS People please jump aboard and help out. Its a lot of fun and its not just rifle shooting. Great weekend with great people when we went last year! ^:)^
Where and when? I might be able to make a border raid.
I would need the certification.
Yep, please post the dates when available.
Waiting on confirmation from the range on what dates we can pick from. I will let you all know ASAP! Meanwhile, I am getting an RSO class put together, and will post the date for that here as well :)
Sorry this has taken sooo long ::)
A change in management at the Dillon range caused a slight SNAFU with our date confirmation. I finally got confirmation last night... Sept 21st 22nd and 23rd will be the weekend for this years BFA youth shooting event and Merit Badge blitz. I hope that everyone who helped out last year can do so again, and hopefully we can get some new folks involved.
Looking at dates toward the end of Aug for the RSO class...as soon as I have that set, I will let you all know.
Also looking at getting Dillon range to host an AS event in the future... O0
Nice seeing you in St. Louis Julia :)
I am trying to get a solid number for volunteers...
If you can commit to helping out at this years Youth Shoot, please reply to this thread. If you prefer, contact me directly...

Thanks!

From the context, Boy Scouts can get their rifle merit badge at this event?
Anwalt
Yes...
Trophies are ordered, I have a total of 5 shooting sports merit badge instructors, we need as many RSO's as we can get. If anyone can help out on that Sat. please let me know.
Thanks in advance!
I'm actually off that FRI/SAT/SUN... wow, that doesn't happen too often! Where exactly is this range? (Sorry, I may have missed it somewhere?)
Aaron,
Ev has a prior commitment for that weekend, but I'll be happy to help again (Rifle MB, NRA Basic Rifle & RSO). How many scouts, and do you need rifles?
Stand,
You know if you get that RSO I'm going to be bugging you to help out with the merit badge program at Beaver Falls. Fair warning!
OH NOOOOO NOT ANOTHER TRIP TO BEAVER FALLS!!!! ;D
I will get detail and maybe we can ride out togeather.

Barbie...the range is located North of Zanesville at Dillon state park. A little birdie told me we may be getting an Apple Seed started there ^:)^
EZ3 People have been asking about you two, and it's too bad Ev has somewhere else to be. We would LOVE to have you back if you are willing and able! I've got some greenhorns lined up as new merit badge counselors. We are in the process of breaking things up into sections for each instructor, and your input would be invaluable.
RSO class will be on Sept. 9th for those of you interested. Anyone volunteering for the youth shoot or showing a valid BSA membership card is $75. Anyone volunteering for the second year at the youth shoot is free... all others are $125.
for direct communication, please call (740) 403-5115 and or email me at para45acp@roadrunner.com
What time do we need to be there Friday? What time are we done Sunday? What sleeping accomadations are there?
Thanks

Ok...I am sorry, I am sorry, I am sorry!!!!! :-\
I know its gonna sound pretty lame but I have suffered from yet ANOTHER hard drive melt down. I got my lap top back TODAY, and between that and my job driving...it is what it is!
Camping is FREE I think I might have stated that before. Bring some food with you...but do not be surprised if one of the scout troops invites you to eat with them! :)
My cell # is 740-403-5115 if you need direct contact...ask for Aaron if you arrive un-announced at the event! I will be there some time Friday mid-day/early afternoon to set up camp. Will be there till Sunday when EVERYONE has left. There may be some shooting activities Sunday morning (there was last year) but should be wrapped up by mid day.
Looking forward to seeing any of my AS family this weekend!
As I was loading things up this morning, I realized I am almost out of the AS trifolds. If anyone coming to the shoot could bring me a nice stack of them, I would appreciate it!
O0
I just want to express my appreciation for those of you who came out and helped this year! We couldn't have done it without you
Just so you know, we ended up with 2 Marksman 1st Class and 1 Sharpshooter in rifle, and 3 Marksman 1st Class in Shotgun O0
ALL the kids had a great time...
Thanks again!
:)
I had a great time and met a lot of good people. I look forward to next year.
Same here Stand,
We'll most likely be at the one next year. Great weekend again Aaron
Doug
PS The only bad part about the weekend was now I have a new "hobby" that will make me spend even more money - Skeet shooting!!! :wb:
It's not Appleseed, but if we bail our butts off and save the country only to turn it over to a generation with no training in leadership, no character development, and no moral compass, what was the point? There are a lot of fronts in this war, and time spent in Scouting is a darn good investment! Keep it up, Aaron!
:~
Too bad Girlscouts has been lost to the dark side. :(
Aaron,
Sorry I missed this again!! I was in Arkansas doing a Ladyseed. Glad to hear all went well and successful on all fronts. Fantastic job you are doing!!!
Thank you to all the AS guys helping Aaron out. This is a worthy program and as EZ stated building tomorrow's leaders on many fronts is majorly important!!
Thanks for all the encouraging words. We all do whatever we can do!
Stand, my girls were in GS and because of what they've become, we switched them over to American Heritage Girls. You might want to look into it, and let people know who have girls in that age group. We had some AHG girls at the shoot last year.
So Doug...I suppose you are going to blame me for your new addiction ::) ;D
Funny Julia, I happen to be sitting in Little Rock as I type this up LOL! Delivered some freight to Tyson Chicken over in Russelville. I think I'd rather have been out here for something like you were doing ;)
For anyone interested in putting it on the calendar for next year...the youth shoot will be held on the second weekend of September.
:)
