A beautiful weekend for promoting Appleseed. We set up a table just outside the main entrance and "baited" it with a M1 Garand, a 10/22 LTR, and a Cobb MCR300 (AR chambered in 30-06). Handed out lots of brochures, a few chamber flags, and collected a couple of pages of e-mail addresses for targeted mailings of future events. In attendance was TomM1Thumb, 50calTank, and 9mm4545. Best prospects seemed to be couples or families. First question we asked was "who is the shooter in your family?" As many have discovered, there were a plethora of those (mostly men) that "already knew how to shoot" and the sales pitch was a bit tougher with those. For future shows, a banner could be helpful as our posters did not have the immediate attraction that a big banner would. Also, the addition of a female instructor/IIT/Blue Hat to the team might help show that this is not an all male organization. I will be asking at future events if anyone heard of Appleseed through gun show promotions. It was fun and got the word to some who might not have heard of us otherwise.
