Hello, all! I'm looking for a good speed loader for the Ruger 10/22 rotary magazine. What are your suggestions?
I got the Butler Creek loader, which doesn't work so reliably. First, I think it's designed for the high capacity magazine, but you can fit the rotary magazine in there. Second, in my experience, about halfway through a round always gets stuck. Loading by hand is faster.
Does anyone have experience with Shooter's Ridge loader? That seems to be the other commercially available loader out there.
Sorry if this is a repeat thread. I searched for information, but had no luck. Thanks!
My experience with Shooters Ridge was underwhelming. Worked great for a while (two Appleseeds) but the plastic parts wore out quickly and it became useless. I suspect it is the nature of the beast but if you find one that works--and lasts--post it because I would love to know about it.
I will try one of these next. I have no connection to the website as it was the first one that came up in the search with the loader I wanted.

It is a box that slipps over the magazine and you push down on it rather than on the shell.
Anyone tried it yet?
The best speed loader I've seen for magazines is a friend.
Bring someone to your next event who's not particularly interested in shooting or, better yet, someone who "already knows how to shoot" and have them sit there loading your mags for you. We'll let them "spy" on all the instruction, "eavesdrop" on all the history, and who knows, by the end of the weekend we may even have them shooting. (Which kind of defeats the purpose of bringing your own personal speed loader but it pretty much keeps us going on this whole Appleseed mission thing.)
In all seriousness, the best way to load the Ruger mags is practice. Go to the range more and pass on what you've learned. You can load the mags while your friends shoot and you point out they're not following through on the trigger or they're not fully exhaled before they shoot. Aww man. Here we are, back on mission.
Gandpa's and non-shooting children are great also ;D

Haha... Child labor at it's finest... "Here lil Timmy, load my mags and I'll get you a Happy Meal" ;D

Return it; I have one that works very well. This is the one that you just turn the knob and it cranks a round with each turn, right? You may have a defective one.
