Title: Saw this on the M14 Firing Line forum - why the fundamentals are important
Post by: Old Dog on November 07, 2011, 07:45:38 PM
a link to the picture rather than the picture (don't know if someone copyrighted it or not but why take the chance).

Don't know why I told someone else it was on arfcom.   Should have gone to bed already I guess. ;D

For those that don't want to go to the other forum its a picture of a tricked out (looks like GI issue) M16 with red dot sight, laser, etc. with a bullet hole through the red dot sight.  The idea as stated was you really need to learn to use the iron sights before the optics, just in case.

Yep, all the troops need to see that! :) WSMR in 09', we had the troops run irons the first 2 days, boy did they complain! The optics are so dependable now days was the cry. Weds they put their optics back on, mostly ACOG's but some Red Dots. Right off the bat we had to "hold the line" while one of them dug around in the sand looking for his battery. That's why we teach BUIS! :)...O.L.

Dependable doesn't equal indestructable.
