Post by: TaosGlock on October 18, 2011, 02:05:40 AM
BlueFeather asked me to get started on this right away. ~~:)

Albuquerque's first Ladyseed was held at the Shooting Range Park on October 15-16, 2011.
7 fantastic shooters turned up for a dose of April 19th, 1775 heritage and modern marksmanship skills.
Thanks so much for coming out and making Albuquerque's first Ladyseed a huge success.  O0
You're enthusiasm, patience, improvement, excitement and attentiveness made it an honor to work with you.

Here BlueFeather and Shooter lead the initial parts of instruction.
The nice New Mexico breeze kept the temps near perfect and assured the flags of our Founders would proudly fly!

BlueFeather explains the Redcoat target. 13 rounds fired, one round for each colony.
Shooters made tremendous improvement over the weekend on this target that answers that eternal question, "what is my effective range?"

The women led the reviews on Sunday. If you can spot what needed fixed, so did they!
Their teachable attitudes resulted in near perfect presentations. O0

The bench guys on the range next door range were simply making noise...
While these women of Appleseed were learning the true skills of a Riflemen! O0 :---

Just when life and the endless forum battles feel like they are getting you down to the extent that you start to question why you are even doing this after... four years... then an Appleseed like this comes along and changes everything!

This Ladyseed was the epitome of awesomeness! I got to work with 8 fantastic ladies (7 students and IIT3 Shooter) who all did their best to learn and contribute. Everyone had a good time and everyone improved.  We started off with a trigger control drill right after the first redcoat (which we read about in an AAR), and that virtually eliminated trigger problems, which I have never had happen before.  We also split the six steps into two, as we have been doing all this year, and I think that helped students focus on just a few things at a time. We have been using a red dot flashlight on a stock for years to demo NPOA, but we brought two to this event and let each student practice NPOA with the red dot on a target only a few feet away: that let everyone understand the effect of moving the body to correct for aim -- I doubt we could have done this with a larger group, but it was perfect for 7.

We had the usual equipment problems and such, which will be listed in the IAAR, but what stood out was the camaraderie  and cooperation.  This is the third Ladyseed I have done and they really seem to have a different dynamic that ultimately contributes to everyone learning and absorbing more than usual. There are no ego battles and people who know too much to be taught.

I will continue to do regular 'seeds, but Ladyseeds are way more rewarding as an instructor. We could not have spent our weekend any better than this!  Thank you so much: Kim, Vivian, Billie, Michelle, Elizabeth, Kazuko, Chinami and Elaine (Shooter) for coming out and being a part of this event!  (And of course, Dan (TaosGlock) for all his work, as well as Gideon for arranging it all and initially setting up the line.)

/Gillian

It sounds like a fantastic weekend.  I really wanted to sit in the background and watch, but alas I had somewhere else to be and it was my loss.  Especially, after reading the AAR!

All I can say is, you ladies rock!

I would like to personally acknowledge Kim and her husband Rob.  They are outstanding Americans, and they are overwhelmingly supportive of Appleseed as demonstrated by picking up all the range fees for the shooters this weekend.

Thank you Bluefeather, Shooter and ToasGlock.

You know, I went to my first Appleseed shoot this same weekend here locally. Man am I hooked and I'm going to claim my Orange hat soon.

But I mainly stopped in here to say:

BRAVO ZULU to all of you who shot in the Ladyseed shoot as shown in the pictures above. They are GREAT pictures. I love the picture of the pink hat that says:  SHOOT LIKE A GIRL IF YOU CAN!, What a crack up!!!!... A big thanks to all who shot and facilitated the range activities!!

And I totally concur with Jerry Hall's last posting, which I will state again here:

"THANK YOU ALL for Exercising our LIBERTIES, HERITAGE and MARKSMANSHIP!!!"

BTW, I love all the flags you used for a back drop at the range and I really love the area around Albuquerque, N.M also.
