Could someone recommend a good, one piece scope mount for the Marlin 795 (1 inch diameter scope)? Thanks,
Steve
The Marlin 795 receiver is not drilled and tapped for mounting scope bases, unless they have recently changed. The receiver is "grooved" to accept ".22 caliber rings". You can get those rings at Dick's, WalMart and most any place that sells firearm accessories. The rings have claw bases that clamp to the grooves on the receiver. The Marlins are notorious for the scope/rings "walking" in the grooves. This is an easy fix. Once you are satisfied with the position of the scope/rings just loosen them up enough to put some locktite in the groove. I go the extra step of staking the rings by using a small punch to dimple the groove behind the rings. This is probably over kill but adds a little insurance. Someone may make a Weaver style base or a rail that clamps to the grooves but I have not seen one. I would think that they would have the same issue of walking. You could probably have the receiver drilled and tapped but that is more expense than I care for on a $100.00 rifle. I have scoped three 795s using the above method and rings with no issues. 795s are both very accurate and very reliable.
Hope this helps some,
csw
Check out an EGW Marlin Picatinny Rail Scope Mount.
Loctite it down as mentioned previously.
Add some Burris Signature Zee Rings and you will be good to go.

I have an old RWS C mount on one of my marlins - it's far more mount than needed. Springer air rifles have more recoil than a .22.
Those mounts look pretty nice, just be careful about how high off the rifle the mounts and rails put the scope or you will run into sight picture/cheek weld problems.
DIP makes a nice 1 piece mount, picatinny style.

I made one similar to this for my 795.

I use this product and recommend it. No more scopes "walking" off the rifle.

I have a B Square extended mount on mine which allows you to mount a scope further forward. It's nice in the prone position especially.
