Title: Piqua, OH Sept 17-18, 2011 --- AAR
Post by: Gordon on September 18, 2011, 10:46:10 PM
Piqua, Ohio, Saturday, 17-Sept-2011.

Taking the liberty of getting the ball rolling on the AAR. I was only there on Saturday but what a great day! Full line, great staff --- all around, a beautiful Appleseed event.

Lots of people there with families too, great group in general

I took a bunch of pictures. Here are the highlights. I hope others will chime! Warm regards, -Gordon

I'd personally like to thank all the instructors, shooters and applecore folk for the hard work and dedication to help make our 3rd Piqua shoot a success. What a great group of people to spend the weekend with. It's so rewarding to see the progress throughout the weekend as the shooting form gets better and the groups get tighter.

Thanks everyone for making the choice to get off the couch and get involved either as a shooter or as a volunteer (or both!).  Special thanks to the Piqua Club for hosting and to Blair for setup and tear down work as well as to Rick, and Jerry for bringing so many great shooters.  Jerry that blue hat looks great on you and it is clear that you will do whatever it takes to get people to AS and that you enjoy it too!  Keep up the great work.

Gordon great pictures!

What a fantastic shoot!!! We were blessed with superb weather, a line of persistent shooters who should great improvement all weekend with an instructor cadre who never quit.

First, let me thank the Piqua Fish and Game Protective Association for hosting another great event. Next a huge 'thank you' to Blair (the buckeye trapper) and DGMilty (Dave) for setting the line and having everything ready to go Saturday morning. Also, a big thank you to Jerry F. for all of his efforts to get folks on the line for the Piqua shoots.

Finally, THANK YOU to the shooters, who straight out of the gate were drinking from the AS fire hose and so willing to learn the RIFLEMAN skill set!!

Jane, it was really wonderful having you on the line Saturday!! You showed a tremendous amount of improvement and your groups were coming right along. Thank you for supporting AS by placing flyers at your business, it is appreciated!! See you on the line again soon.

Marcos, you cleared both redcoats on Saturday, a feat I have never witnessed by a first time Appleseeder!  You definitely have a RIFLEMAN' s patch in your future.  O0 O0 Sorry you could not join us on Sunday, hopefully you can make it back to the next Piqua shoot.

Jason, you worked so hard all weekend and your groups really showed your improvement!! Congratulations on the RIFLEMAN patch.

Rick, Mandee, Dawnna, and Bill you guys just flat out are an amazing family!! It was a pleasure working with each of you this weekend. All your groups improved. Bill sorry we did not catch the equipment malfun until late Sunday afternoon. The RIFLEMAN patch is in your future definitely-- your 203 was very good shooting! Rick congratulations on re-qualifying with the M1A, the AR is next!! I will be watching with an Orange hat in hand  ;D ;D

Zach and Johnny, you guys are two very amazing young men!! Your determination and persistence throughout the weekend showed as your targets steadily improved. But, your hunger to hear the history and take it all in during the stories was absolutely awesome!! Keep that desire to learn!! Oh yeah, keep bugging Jerry to take you out to practice too!! ^-^ ^-^

John, thank you for bringing the boys out on Saturday and spending the day on the line as well. Sorry you could not make it back Sunday. Your .22 pump is a beautiful rifle, seriously I would clean it and put it in the gun safe, parts will be harder and harder to obtain and it most definitely is a family heirloom!!

Grandpa Bill, we missed you on Sunday!! Hope we were not too hard on you Saturday :D :D You really did know how to work that little single shot .22. Nice job and great improvement. Hope to see you on the line with us again!

Zach, kudos big guy for going with the iron sights!! O0 O0 remember, slow is smooth, smooth is fast. Keep dry practicing.

Jerry, congratulation on re-qualifying with your AR!! Thanks for all your hard work and stepping up to take the blue hat. Welcome to Applecore!!

Thank you to all the instructor corps who worked very hard this weekend. It is always an honor and pleasure working with each of you. Pink-E, I just wish I could do the instructor prone position the way you do ::) **) **)
Joni and "The Awful-ist" it was so sad to see the tail lights of the truck pullout. Hope the journey is a safe one. Hopefully we will be able to work the line again soon. Thank you for all your help, it was soooo much fun working together.

Blessings to you all, I look forward to meeting you on the Appleseed Trail again real soon!!

In His grip,
ratchett

A variety of rifles, and people as well.  I think the number of 10/22s was prevalent though.

I enjoyed working with each and every student and instructor!  I am looking forward to seeing many of the students again soon.  Lots of dedication and perseverance.  Keep up on the practice!

Sorry I am so late chiming in, it has been crazy busy at my house!  We had a great weekend for the shoot with near perfect weather.  Lots of friends were not able to make it due to being called in at the last minute to different jobs.  We missed you but we understand.  Thanks to all the instructors....it was great to see you all again and to meet some new friends as well.  It was great to meat Theopolis and Joan and even neater that they were going to Appleseeds as they travelled on their vacation!!!  My wife doesn't think she will allow me to do that HaHa.  Thanks Joan for the tutiledge and great example of the things a Blue Hat does.  Thanks Ratchett for entrusting me with the Blue Hat, I will do my best to keep spreading the word.

Jason-congrats on the Rifleman!   I wish I had been there to see you get "patched."  (By the way everyone...his wife says he is still talking about it, I think he's hooked!)

Zach and Johnny- great job on having a teachable attitude and the desire to do better.  We might have to wait until hunting season is over but I predict we will see them again.

Finally if anyone has any pics especially of the Zach and Jonny, myself, or my brother-in-law Jason please let me know so I can get them from you.

See you all soon.
